It's fun to use actually. Especially if you enjoy self-harming. I got it to see how I felt about the challenge of open razor shaving, i.e. was the straight razor experience worth the learning curve.

I'm now going to look for a proper cut throat razor with a strop and a stone, more because I fancy the idea of it rather than because it's practical or anything! That said I'm hoping to be able to achieve the closest possible shave with a cut throat. We'll see. My safety razor is always there as a fall-back if required.

Yes I have. You get a full, rich and spacious sound, it’s superb. The Phono Box DS isn’t bad but this is in a different league. It’s not entry level kit and I managed to get mine for an entry level price. Are you using a dedicated phone preamp?

You should also get "Acc-Sees Velvet Antistatic Vinyl Brush" from Amazon. It's only tenner and very good.

Nope, mine is plugged directly into the phono port on my arcam alpha 5.

I was looking at the tube box s as it's cheaper than the ds. Wonder if it would be better than the arcam?

I've been using a Blue Beards Revenge for about a year! I also use a DE for the day's I'm a bit sleepy and the Cut-Throat would be dangerous!! :D

I'd never go back to disposables now! My Razor Burn is nearly non existent now!!

If you want a Proper Cut-Throat with Strop and Stone, I've been reading about one Blue Beards Revenge are developing that uses 'Samouri Sward' technology! I think the prototype is a single billet of Steel, folded about 160 times!!

Though it'd probly be very expensive!! :cool:

True story. I was in a Skoda dealer, and I was asking why the equipment list was so mean compared to another car I was interested in.

Dealer tells me it was due to better quality materials, gets up and demonstrates the thud of the door on the car behind him in the showroom.

Cringe.
