BMW M135i

bend a tea spoon back on itself about 1.5 inches from end and check it on the profile of the new grilles, I'd start on the bottom row of 3 for removal, I started on top ones and struggled to get lower ones free, once one grille is off you have better access to other one and should pop out easily

I damaged one tab on old grille but more than enough to refit if I choose to revert back to original

Thanks Stephen. I've got 2 months to decide, or to save up the £45 :P

Think I'm going to spec the sunroof too. That doesn't leave many options unticked :/ This is my 5 year car though. It has to be for the sake of my wallet.

Still debating Alpine White or Mineral Grey. I love the white on my current F21, and the darker wheels on the M135i really make it stand out.

Mineral Grey. Far nicer than forgetting to order paint... err I mean Alpine White :p

£13k+ an F21 125i though... ouch. Is it *really* worth it?

better than giving up on what you really want and buying a "nearly" car

if your keeping it for 5 years I'd have waited for the facelift personally

I've made up my mind. Mineral grey it is :)

Of course it's not worth it. However I am not enjoying driving a manual so rather than let that taint my first BMW experience, I decided to change it. Of course I could just go for another 125i with the sport auto, but when you do the numbers it makes no sense not to get an M135i.

This is definitely a heart over head decision.

The facelift won't arrive before March 2015.

hm 14 reg. nice car mate.

Thanks, but what are you saying? Wait for 64? It's too far away and the dealership will drop the value of my car by £300 each month I still have it.

In 5 years time there's going to be very little difference between a 14 and a 64 plate if they were both registered in 2014.

The Glacier Silver and Coral Red is quite nice, but I still think that Mineral Grey is the winner.

as I said its a personal choice, as I wouldn't want to be driving around in an outdated car for last 4 years of ownership

but your right, its a balancing act between depreciation and "want"

if I were buying again and there's a good chance I will, I'd go silver instead of grey, however EB still looks the nuts in 3dr with tints for me :)

March 2015 is a loooong way away from July 2014, and there's no guarantee that it will arrive then. I'm sure that we won't see deliveries until at least a month after they announce the LCI.

The silver is actually starting to grow on me quite quickly. The darker wheels seem to get lost on the Mineral Grey one (link). So undecided :(

Why are you thinking of buying again?

I would normally agree with the facelift idea Stephen has but its a gamble because they might not change much, though I suspect the F20 facelift will be quite noticeable as I'd imagine it'll go the way of the 2 Series front-end wise. But it's too far away to put off a purchase for, if it was 3-5 months away you'd be mad not to wait but a full year is more difficult to justify.

The thought of waiting has crossed my mind more than once, but as you say, an entire year is just too far off. Besides, I really love the 1 series as it is. If they change it, I won't love mine any less. I could afford the M235i now, so if I'm going for the M135i then I must be happy with the way that the front-end looks in its current form. Sorry rodenal ;)

Thoughts on Glacier Silver vs Mineral Grey? I realise that it's a personal decision, but multiple opinions never hurt :)

I prefer lighter colours so I'd go for Glacier Silver over Mineral Grey but I doubt my view will be popular as most people don't seem to like silver. I wanted a silver F10 but only ever found one, it's weird how unpopular silver is these days.

It used to be all the rage in the 2000s. Glacier Silver seems to be getting more popular over on the BabyBMW forums because there are a few guys waiting for theirs to be delivered whereas there were none before.

Lighter colours are definitely more forgiving when it comes to swirls, dirt and other imperfections.

Why are you thinking of buying again?

I've owned mine since Nov 12, and tbh I never did enough research on options before buying my 1st ever BMW.

I definitely didn't want the Auto, Pro Nav or adaptive as they were adding too much cost for a personal purchase and I didn't want to become disconnected too much from the experience. I went pretty minimal with adaptive lights, comfort pack, electric lumbar, rear PDC and black panel, with a little over 10% discount. and the free speaker upgrade offered at the time. So glad I didn't get Pro Nav as there have been 2 major updates on the hardware since then.

Ordering again would be with the addition of extended storage, sunroof, folding mirrors, comfort access and enhanced Bluetooth, all pretty obvious now but dealer wasn't particularly knowledgeable at time of order.

So in about 5 months it will be paid off and have a nice low mileage, so I can start saving and planning in time for LCI.

Yeah they're £125 fitted at Cooper Tunbridge Wells. Apparently they're a bugger to get to.

I've always wanted a car with a sunroof, so I'm thinking of changing the colour to Alpine White and adding the sunroof. I just wish I could find some decent pictures of it!

I have a alpine white M sport with a sunroof, what pictures would you want to see?
I pretty much chose alpine white so I could have the sunroof, been so many years since i've had one, plus I really think it looks good in white, shows off all the lines.

I don't think many of the dealers have any idea about the options, the mess on extended bluetooth/pronav is laughable. I think the only option I would have maybe thought about again is interior comfort, really would have liked comfort access and the door handle lights but you do have to draw the line somewhere ;)

After experiencing the CIC-HIGH (or NBT) Pro Nav yesterday, I agree with you. It's quite considerably faster and better looking that my CIC Pro Nav. The touch-sensitive input on the iDrive controller is just fantastic too, although it's the first time in my life that I wished I was left-handed.

I'm not bothered about Comfort Access and unless you want the cradle, you can code in Enhanced Bluetooth afterwards for peanuts. That's a £430 saving.

Did you get the Advanced Loudspeaker upgrade? I've got that now and I was pretty impressed with the Harman Kardon. Time will tell whether it was worth £305 more.

The M135i uses a different gearbox and clutch to the rest of the range so it's good to hear that you like it. I sat in a manual M235i yesterday and the clutch was a lot lighter than mine.

You should really test drive a car with adaptive though. It's a deal-breaker for me.

Thanks dude but a bunch of guys posted pics of their sunroofs in my thread on the BabyBMW forum. I'm totally sold on the sunroof now.

I agree with you about the white. It's proving to be difficult to make a choice and I have to let the dealer know tomorrow morning!

Ah, no worries!

On HK, I have to say that I thought it would be an "ok" system as I'm used to an amped up system with a sub but I have found it to be pretty outstanding. Not at all sure I will be fitting my compact sub in as I had planned to earlier.
I had a lender 116i manual for a while before mine, it was ok but I didn't find the gearbox nice at all when stuck in traffic. Auto all the way!

The sales manager at Cooper Tunbridge Wells gave me a demo of the HK system but he had the bass and treble jacked up quite high. The bass just didn't give up even when he maxed out the volume. In my car you can hear the door speakers vibrating after a certain point.

He said that the HK system in the F3x is a lot better because there's more amplification, more speakers and more adjustments available in iDrive.
