Glasgow School of Art - RIP

Very bad news, know a lot of product design engineering students that go there and apparently some 4th years have lost all their finals work in the flames.

Also if the fire spread from the basement to the top floor in 8 minutes, than that is even more reason to have better fire suppression installed.

Next time it might be people getting burned away not just stuff. It is obvious that fire safety was a low priority at this place.

As i said before you've clearly got a good grasp of regulations and listed building constraints. The alarm system went off, and the occupants evacuated. That's the priority and it worked. The fire services arrived on site in 4 minutes but the blaze had already spread sufficiently enough that it reached the roof level 4 minutes later.

I presume that your house must have a full fire suppressant system in it or do you take a low view on fire safety?

Nothing like a good fire to maintain the look and character of a building eh.

No, but I have modern up to date and working smoke alarms on all floors, exits all free from obstruction and working (amazing how many people have jammed back doors and don't bother fixing them) and fire escape windows upstairs. :)
