Msi gtx 580 warranty replacement.

Just had a reply, they aren't budging. I'm now out of warranty, I'm going to contact msi direct and see what they say, assuming I can find contact details!

Actually quite shocking customer relations tbh.

Totally different scenario, but compare and contrast the service I received the other day. Last Thursday I ordered a couple of MSI 780Ti Gaming Edition's. Low and behold I get up on Sunday morning, have a wee browse at the shop and see they have a special day only price £30 less expesive than I paid. Obviously frustrating, but ocuk would have been quite within their rights to say tough luck son basically. But I sent them a wee message on customer service forum to see if there was anything they could do for me. Got reply yesterday afternoon informing me they were refunding me £60. Now that was over 5% of my total order so will have eaten in to their margin a fair bit, but without doubt they have secured my custom for the foreseeable future, which is going to be worth more to them than £60.

I doubt you will be shopping at 'the competitor' any time soon! That is the difference.

I've had this happen to me before, but unfortunetly they wouldn't refund me the difference, and it wasn't worth DSRing. I had the 7970 on pre-order for 2 weeks, then it arrived on the Monday and dropped £20 on the Friday today only deal

Same retailer in question tried to fiddle me out of replacement item, offered me £40.00 to go against any other item for less than 6 month old Motherboard with RRP £129.99 new.

I kept on at them for best part of a week via many emails and one polite but clearly **** off phone call, eventually they coughed up replacement. Needless to say I don’t shop there anymore.

So OP, keep on at them or hit the associated forums linked with them. ;)

Had a nightmare rma situation with that same outfit a few years ago. Took weeks to get it sorted to an acceptable conclusion.

Tbh I have had poor levels of customer service from most of the major etailers, with the exception of the lads at overclockers and the competitor in question strangely enough.

The worst 2 I have encountered rhyme with BeeFlyer and the other is the first name of a major character from Game of Thrones, the youngest Stark sister!

Thanks for the replies chaps, I've tried contacting msi, but you can't call them and when you try to raise a ticket, you need a serial number which I don't have as I haven't got the card, it's probably with msi... I haven't given up yet though.

And you are quite correct, I'm sticking with ocuk next time.

If its OOW then how comes they are offering to swap it for you?

It wasn't oow, when I sent it back.. Tbh I didn't realise it had a 3 year warranty, I'd put up with the whining fan for over a year before I sent it back, when they tested it, it wouldn't even turn on. It's gone out of warranty in the 2 months they've had it.

Time for an update, after contacting MSI via email and them saying they have sent an email to head office to ask for a replacement, ive heard nothing back in weeks.. I then contacted them through their support page to be told that they cannot offer a replacement because they have credited the "competitor". I replied back and no reply.. GRRR. Has anyone got any suggestions of what to try next?

If you can be bothered with the hassle, then you could always go get advice from your local CAB who will surely be able to assist you with any correspondence etc.

Alternatively, sook it up, chalk it down to experience, accept the card and never use said retailer again. That would leave you with a 660 which you could sell and use to partially fund the GPU you would ideally like, or you could use the 660 which is still a good card, although I maintain it is a downgrade on your 580 in most scenarios.
