Have work near there later this year and need to stay round the corner and will need parking. I know it is probably going to be really expensive but somewhere under £150 a night...can this be done?

Have you looked at serviced apartments instead?

1.5 miles away. Currently around £200 /night including car parking. You could just catch a cab to Trafalgar Square if you're just there for the day.

The wedding is at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, I'll be driving down with my equipment. Ideally, I want to stay as close as possible seeing there are no parking at that place and perhaps go back to my room to swap gear if i get a minute. Somewhere no more than 10 min walk away. I really don't want to get the tube with all that stuff unless i have to.

Not for under £150, no chance.

There is a Hilton with parking (The Trafalgar Hotel) right next door to Trafalgar (and the ICA) but it won't be cheap.

That hotel you mention is £418 for 2 nights, parking behind it is £108 for the same 2 nights....

That's £500 !

Increase your budget to £200 and you just might (excluding parking). Again, I chose 20th September.

For the Thistle Piccadilly, there are car parks near the hotel.

For guests travelling by car there are two car parking available nearby at an additional charge.

Cockspur Street/Spring Gardens car park is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. To book or for more info, click here.
Titan Car park, located on Whitcomb street is just a minute walk away.

hahaha, a hotel near Trafalgar Square AND parking AND reasonably priced?!

Parking in a location that central is going to be hugely expensive unfortunately.

You'd be better off staying further away and then driving to the venue, paying for parking as needed that way.

I can stretch to £200. (can write it off as expenses anyway ! :p)

I hope that helped. :) You still haven't said what month the wedding is in. :p

End of August.

This may explain why i like to stay close.

client is staying at the Corinthia Hotel then wedding at ICA. Normally I keep my lights/tripod in the car. I guess the alternative is stay further out, book at parking space and drive there. But if the difference is like £50 per day cheaper further out, then it's not really worth the hassle and stress trying to fight through London traffic at rush hour.

Home much gear will you actually have? I'd be tempted to take all the stuff I'd need with me, assuming they'll have secure places to store it/I had adequate insurance. What would you be going back for? Batteries/memory cards?

I could carry it all with me in terms of camera and lenses, need to be more selective with lenses too. It's the light stands/tripod I would need to leave behind.

I like to have them all if I can for obvious reasons but obviously if I can't then I improvise, which is fine. I am just calling that Plan B. I like to try to get Plan A in if at all possible, within reason.

Have a look at the londontown.com website. There is some very good deals at the moment.

e.g. 30th August.
Cavendish London Hotel with in-house car park from £50.
Distance: 6 minutes walk from Institute Of Contemporary Art..
was £436
now £136

oooooh, thanks for that !!! Amazing.

Pay someone with an allocated car parking space in the road or a driveway to rent their space? I remember reading an article about people doing this months ago.

Why not bring them all with you and then see if some staff member at the reception venue can't store them safely for you when you need to do your wandering around with the camera etc..

Failing that a nearby car park/parking space is likely your best bet - I'm sure you can get a travel lodge say in a cheaper central location - Kings Cross etc... so it wouldn't take too long to drive there even if there is heavy traffic.
