What are Mario Kart 8 Tournaments?
Mario Kart 8 allows your to set up your own Tournaments. You specify the rules, start date, end date, frequency, time etc. The tournament tracks performance of participating players, determining a winner when the tournament ends.
Tournaments also serve as Communities in Mario Kart 8, like a group/clan that you can play with anytime - even if the tournament period is not active (practice races)
What are the available options for Tournaments?
Here are the settings you specify when creating tournaments:
Mode: 50cc Race, 100cc Race, 150cc Race, Mirror Race, Battle (enables “Round Time” setting)
Teams: No Teams, Team Game
Items: All Items, Shells Only, Bananas Only, Mushrooms Only, Bob-ombs Only, No Items (not available in Battles), Frantic Mode
Round Time (for battle mode): 1 minute, 2, 3 (default), 4, 5
Vehicles: All Vehicles, Karts Only, Bikes Only
Control Methods: All Controls, Tilt Controls Only
COM: No COM, Easy COM, Normal COM, Hard COM

Frequency: Weekly (enables “Start Day” / “End Day” settings), Daily, Fixed Period
