"Coroner investigates Call of Duty after suicide"...I Can't take this seriously! lol

"Call of Duty game seems to be figuring in recent activity before death"...

they haven't got a clue!...

"In February 2012, Callum Green, 14, was found hanged after playing Call of Duty with his stepfather"....

Imagine what this kid said??!..."Damn this camper!!!...that's it!!, where's my rope?!"

Typical Dailyfail post...

That's a rather ignorant staement from the coroner. Correlation does not mean causation. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a teenage lad that hadn't played an online FPS like CoD.

the whole agmes make you kill yourself thing aside. The parents are the stupid ones for letting 14 yr olds play 18 rated games.

also thats about as much as I could read of that article, if you can call it an article.

What... You mean because I danced in the garden and then it rained. I did't do a rain dance......

Daily mail fail. Just like the shooter in the us who got roid rage from creatine

Do you have kids?

no. However I know I stated it more simple than it actually is. Kids are hard to control, I know I have been on the other side of the line myself. Fighting for the right to do what I want, physically fighting my dad against his regimes.

But tbh my original statement is just my opinion and not a suggested course of action, possibly a goal for some people, I know my dad banned all gaming for years, didnt stop me buying myself a PS2 secretly.

Statistically there is going to be people who kill themselves who play the same game, only because the games are so popular.

That would be like contributing watching tv to suicides because everyone who kills themselves watches tv...

By blaming games they are not looking at real reason behind it and i suspect its probably male depression caused by social pressure and expectations from his parents.

This from the article says it all for me... It's rated 18 for a reason.

An interesting aside would be: does that reason bear up under scrutiny? i.e. the reason for it having an 18 cert is due to the type of violence etc depicted passing the threshold set for an 18 cert..... but is there actually a proven reason that this sort of violence in entertainment causes negative impact upon under 18s?

Maybe there is - I actually don't know

Well personally I have found myself wanting to cook after watching say, Masterchef.

So you can totally extrapolate that behaviour to wanting to gun people down after playing and FPS.

To be honest, just interacting with the general public makes me want to gun down people far more than any video game ever could...

A couple of things I noticed in that "article":

Caption from one of the photos: "he was found after a family row about being 'grounded'"

And yet his suicide couldn't possibly be because of that, it must be because of zomgvideogames!

"There are currently at least 40million active players across all of the Call of Duty titles"

Out of which, 4 have committed suicide. Odds of 1 in 10 million.

Now lets look at how many people have committed suicide since February 2012 overall, the first official figure I found is from 2012: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/subna...united-kingdom/2012/stb-uk-suicides-2012.html

11.6 per 100,000. That's 1 in ~8620.

So actually, those playing CoD are ~1160 times LESS likely to commit suicide overall.

There we go ladies and gents, conclusive evidence that play CoD prevents suicide! ;)

(Yes I realise it doesn't quite work like that :p)

I am glad they've got a picture of the coroner in the article though, just so we can see exactly what a complete idiot looks like...

I have just had a 4 hour stint on elder scrolls online... i am now heading to the garage to make a forge... craft a broadsword and go and massacre as many people as i can find, clearly they are all dreamora disguised as normal people! i hope i get some good drops :p
