Ipad Air or Macbook Air

Hi Guys, Im going on holiday soon and not sure whether to spend £388 on a 16gb Ipad air or spend a little more £644 on a macbook air. I need something to browse web and watch movies mainly as my 4 year old son will be using our current Ipad 3. I also have just bought a seagate wirless plus which works well with the Ipad!

I do have a macbook pro 15 but dont really want to take it with us as its a lot ££££. Also will be p****** off if a new ipad/macbook comes out in the next few months!
 
Just really depends on how much typing you want to do. Personally I just take my ipad on holidays, really doesn't take up much of your hand luggage space.
 
You've pretty much answered the question yourself. You just need to browse and watch videos - the iPad Air is just over half the price to do those tasks as well as the MBA can. Need to type? MacBook Air would be better, but buying an external keyboard case (or even an external keyboard) comes out significantly cheaper than the Air.

As for new models coming out, you're going to be disappointed eventually - new iPads will more than likely be out by October/November (as they were in the last two years) and a new MBA...probably by the end of the year also.
 
bring your macbook pro 15inch :)

in respect to your question i would go for the macbook pro air as it will be more versatile than the ipad due to the OS itself

OP I think the iPad will be best, its not amazing for watching due too the aspect ratio but I think for web browsing it is a lot more fun, and you can get a lot of apps for reading news and so on if you enjoy that.
 
I had the same dilemma, but opted for a MBA over an iPad. A few hundred more than the iPad, but way more flexibility with everything.

The Haswell refresh MBA has just occurred too, so according to MacRumors, it'll be another 300+ days for the next MacBook Air release. iPad on the otherhand will be due in about 3-4months.
