Change your Ebay passwords, security breach.

no word on if they've also lost your secret question as well, so update that everywhere - and if you are stop using your mothers maiden name for any online account's security question...

That + identity theft.

You can guarantee there is more leaked that is not included in the news reports. Including things like telephone number if you set up SMS services or mobile 2-factor authentication.

What can someone do with that much information about you? Quite a lot. Basically potentially compromise any service that do not employ good security practice with things like secret questions or their own passwords. Short of actually possessing PHYSICAL identity documents you pretty much have someone's identity to use with what eBay have leaked.

Is't quite shocking really. Most people don't even realise implications of these sorts of breaches.

I had an issue with my ebay account back in March / April. Basically someone had accessed my account, tried selling an iphone through it, then tried to sell my actual ebay account through Facebook.

I didn't know anything about this, until i got an email one afternoon, saying i had changed my password. Sure enough when i tried logging in, i couldn't. I managed to get control of my account again, and had to phone ebays security team, they assured me my account was secure now, and that they had put a flag on it, incase anyone unauthorised tried to access or change anything on it again.

I consider myself pretty savvy with things like Internet security, i never clicked on any phishing emails, i always check URLs when logging in and making purchases online, I keep my passwords secure and run antimalware software regularly, i have the latest Kaspersky Internet Security software. ebay couldn't give me a straight answer when i questioned them about how someone took control of my account in the first place.

And now this news of a huge security breach on their site has sprung-up. I think i might just delete my account altogether

Changed, can't see it affecting many peeps so far since it happened a few months ago.

With 120+ million account's will just have to see who CLAIMS to have been hacked.

Time will tell.

Got my email at 8am this morning, but haven't been forced to change my password. Maybe that's because I've already changed it, 5 days ago.

I'm not sure if Paypal has been affected or not, but I've changed my password for that too.

Just received the email tonight. Of course I changed mine last week, but why did it take nearly a week for them to actually tell some of their users to change their passwords?

never use ebay,

so, after changing my password looked at my details, it related to a house i moved out of 7 years ago (moved 3 times since)

so they only got my extremely shorted name & DOB :p

Haven't used ebay for so long I Forgot what my ebay password is...

Anyone know the hackers e-mail address so I can ask them for my password...:p
