Just to add...while I'm not 100% on this, the chance are the 1400MHz on the memory is probably stable in general, but may be it just doesn't like it and is unstable when initially booting up from cold.
So if you must insist on keeping the 1400MHz on the memory clock, may be it'd still be best to boot your card up as stock speed, and apply OC after the card/PC has warmed up.
Also I recall reading someone mentioning that 1400MHz is actually slower than 1375MHz due to how the card's bios auto adjust the timing of the memory in the interval of 1375, 1500, 1625. May be you could give 1375MHz a go and see what happens.
And just a reminder...if you don't get this problem with the card on stock clock, then it is not "faulty". If you did send it off for rma, the chance would be you will be told "no fault found", and then you get charge for testing fee (if applicable).

Cheers Triss, working fine at the moment, if it is failing though and i have to rma it, i'm quite tempted to get a refund if possible and get two 290 instead.
Sorted guysbooted using IGPU and removed AMD drivers, afterburner etc, swapped back to the card and booted with no issues, installed 14.6 betas and it's all working brilliantly again....and breathe...
One thing though, afterburner isn't allowing me to change any voltages now, any ideas guys?

Did not know this, card has zero issues running at 1500 on the memory, just didn't run it at that because, well, there was no need to really, but i'll happy run it at 1150/1500 from now on

I don't know, Orangey did it. I like Orangeys work, he introduced me to the laughing duck. My other half loves the laughing duck and its easy to see why.
