Wildstar New MMO (NCSoft and Carbine Studios)

,I'm not sure if you know this but the game has been in development for 9 years

Massively: How long has WildStar been in development?

Jeremy Gaffney: Carbine originally started back in 2004 but was really in R&D mode for the first several years: laying out tools and client technology, working toward our eventual art style, etc. WildStar in its current form has been in development for roughly four years.

Where did you get 9 years? It could be wrong but 9 years seems like a lot.

As such the game suffers a little in early levels as that content was actually created some time ago, I found the intros to the game pretty damn boring actually but found the game more and more fun the more levels I got through.

The major plus is that the late game lvl50 content by all accounts sounds pretty vast and fun, there's more content in the game at release day then any MMO ever I think. With there being 20/40 man raids, lots of dungeons, PvP Wargrounds and PvP arenas.

Same here. I could only play to 30 but i found myself enjoying it more at around level 20 and by 30 i was gutted the cap was in place and started really looking forward to launch. I ended up doing everything i could at 30 up to ~the level 35 quests when it got a bit hard lol. The Bio-domes at that level are quite small compared to full areas but it was a nice change of pace, especially in the first one, having to actually tread carefully and pull or position myself with mobs so that other packs of them didn't kick my ass :p

Seems like the higher you get the more you have to pay attention. The low levels you can just faceroll everything so they get boring.

Well everything that they have worked on since the team was created back then has essentially led to Wildstar. Creating their engine and tools may not have been creating Wildstar in it's current form however they are still the base to the game we see today.

It's not like they were working on anything else since the team was created, all work since 2005 has led to Wildstar.

Servers up

Thanks, i wasn't expecting them to be up this afternoon :)

Does anyone know if using AA settings in CCC instead of the ingame FXAA actually works? I'm trying to use them just now as FXAA is too blurry/soft but they don't seem to be doing anything. Never tried this before.

30 hours since I raised my ticket NCSoft and still no reply. Somewhat disappointing customer service, even at this busy time for them. Really want to get this game downloading soon.

Can any of you that were in beta on the US servers tell me what the latency was like (OK or unplayable)??
I'm thinking about rolling on one of the US PvP servers because of the odd times that I keep at work. It's always nicer to play when other people are on.

got around 160-200 when I checked, which wasn't often. I wouldn't really go for it personally, need a dodge a lot of spells in this game and can't do that with high latency.

I'm struggling a bit to find a race I like. I usually just go for the human type in MMOs but I'm getting a bit bored of that, plus I'm not overly keen on the human models. But looking at the other races I find them all a bit ugly and I don't really warm to any of them. Is it just me?

I'm half tempted to roll a Chua as they're pretty cool looking, but the small cutesy characters always look crap in the nice end-game armour you work so hard for.

I ended up going for male Draken... they look a bit derpy while standing still but their running, melee, and stealth animations are super slick.

Yeah animations is the other thing... Some of the classes run really weird. It seems such a minor thing but you have to potentially watch that animation for many many hours so it needs to be slick.

Hmm, yeah the Draken aren't too bad I guess. As either a Stalker or Warrior they would look pretty cool maybe.

I was getting around 130 and did some raid testing at that latency, didn't have too much of an issue. :)

Could have just been my net but mine jumped up from 140ms ish to 200ms+ just before they switched to the EU servers.

Before it jumped up it was fine for pretty much everything but meant leading targets a little in PvP. After it jumped up it became really frustrating in PvP, no change outside of that but probably would for raiding.
