Worthy upgrades?

MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 1GB

To
Intel i5 4670k
MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB

Will it be much of a step up in terms gaming performance and are there any cheaper alternatives to the above as I'm guessing the GPU is more important than the CPU.

It will be a big improvement

A 270X would be a cheaper alternative for the graphics card.

I should have mentioned that the hardware needs to be intel and nvidia because I'm planning to have a dual-os setup (win7 and osx) at some point

The cpu will make a big difference I some newer titles (lots of cpu bound stuff these days), and the gpu will provide some decent grunt too.

Thats a decent upgrade. I dont know exactly what you have or can do but id suggest.

Getting 'the right gear' to get a good OC on that CPU.
Look second hand for a GTX 670, they are faster than the 760's and cheaper too.
Get a GPU with a good cooler, twin fan coolers are helpful.
