Hi Guys,
I am after your advise here. I am planning to upgrade my machine with new cpu, ram, motherboard, and graphics card. I am an AMD man so the processor I will use is.....

1) AMD FX 9370 4.4GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache Processor

So this is what I will build my machine around. I want to keep the components balanced so which of the following woiuld you buy for this processor?

2) Graphics Card.
3) RAM 8GB+.
4) Motherboard.

Please don't buy that cpu. They run very hot, and are also power hungry. You would be better off with an intel i5/i7.

As said above the 9370 is a poor choice.

Even though its the same price as the i5, you'll need to buy a VERY expensive (for AMD anyway) motherboard and Top end Cooler to maintain the '5ghz' overclock.

Take a look here at its gaming performance too: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-9590-9370_5.html#sect0

The i5 and i7 are superior and i think this statement (from the review) sums it up well:

So it looks like increasing the clock rate of processors with Piledriver microarchitecture can’t make them attractive as gaming solutions. The problem is rooted in the microarchitecture itself which has a relatively low efficiency in terms of performance per core.

Yup, if you haven't got a mobo just buy an intel CPU with a 115 mobo socket. This is good, as you currently don't have a mobo, so you don't need to go into the hassle of purchasing a new mobo with a socket that fits an intel, when you previously have an AMD one. So get an i5 (especially for gaming).

Also, i used to have an AMD processor, but upgraded to an i5 (best choice of lyfe). :)

Ok, so my AMD loyalty is now swayed towards Intel. So for the i5 - 4670k processor what are good motherboards for this around £100 to £160?

Recommended RAM?

And what Graphics card could go with this and not be limited by the CPU. I am not planning on massively overclocking the CPU but may do a little.

Could get an i7 and a first GPU but not sure you would really need it. Maybe add a SSD, and what PSU/Case/cooler do you have, if you have a decent heat sink just drop this one. Motherboard comes with free gaming headset too.

Leave the sides off the case isn't a great idea. It creates poor airflow. I think of a wind tunnel. Case are designed like that, bringing cool air in and blasting hot air out. Now imagine a wind tunnel with one wall missing.. Not cool.

This will affect your temps and OC ability.

I.suggest you put them on and get a better cooler.
