So I'm returning my 290X Matrix for a full refund tomorrow as I'm really not happy with it, quite disappointed to be honest and I'm still within the refund window so I've decided to go for a reference 780 Ti as I prefer the blower style cooling solutions.

My plan is to get a reference 780 Ti, Test it thoroughly, Put a custom VBIOS onto it like I've done many times before to increase overclocking options i.e voltage control, Base/boost clocks etc... Testing it again and then stripping it down and painting the silver metal a matt black, Sanding the green paint off the LED lettering so it's just a nice white light "GEFORCE GTX" *seen this done a few times on modding forums and very easy to do* Putting it back together and putting a custom plain matt black backplate on to it.

*I know all of the above will void my warranty*

Thoughts ?

No voltage control for the ref ti 1.212v max

Well it's a modded bios that seems to allow for more stable overclocks, 2 versions I've used so far, Skyn3t and SVL7, I don't know how they work I just know they do help with overclocks :p

Would be very interested to see the result.

Where has this been done before?

Pics??

Here you go also a pic of the green wording changed, The green on the side is just painted on and can be "Erased" using 400 grit sandpaper -

It looks really nice i think aside from the green writing which looks out of place.

Agree. Green and red don't go together. If the cooler wasn't paint red the green would look good, but since you choose red the titan cooler and green geforce is just plain wrong.. lol I do like what you did sanding off the green light. Geforce looks awesome in white:D Was it easy taking out the green LED's?

Well those pictures aren't mine :)

Mine will be all black with the LED in plain white.

The green LED is just a strip that has a green dye over the top, You use 400 grit sand paper on the letters when you remove them from the shroud and the green dye layer comes off very easily uncovering the nice bright white underneath.

I'll put the pictures up on Wednesday once I mod the reference model which will arrive Tuesday :)

*NOTE None of the pictures are mine*

Remove the LED strip -

And then sand the lettering with ultra fine grit to remove the green dye -
