Making the switch.......?

At what frame rate, settings and res?

1920 x 1080p (Just noticed that's missing from my original post, I'm a van passenger posting from my phone lol) the settings autodetected to ultra, I forget what the AA defaulted to. I'll check when I get home. What I did notice was the Textures setting is greyed out and unchangeable for me, it's currently locked on ultra too? Afterburner shows between 60 and 80 fps but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It feels really slick though.

I've noticed on some peoples screengrabs that the background sometimes shows through cars and trees etc. I had that to begin with as well, I dialled 50hz back on my card and it remedied it.

+1

1600p totally maxed on 4 x 290Xs I get about 70 fps - that's the bad news.

The good news is CF scaling works fantastic, I only get about 18 fps on a single card.

Is it the AA that does it?
I run it at 1440p maxed apart from only temporal smaa, and avg 45-50 with one stock 290x and a 4.4ghz 3820.

60-80 on a single 7950? Surely not? I get about 40fps with smaa. CPU usage around 80%. My bro gets around 60-70 with his 780ti.

It seems that Ubisoft are working on a PC performance patch but still no excuse for releasing it in this state.

Quote from one of the developers: "Watch Dogs can use 3+ GB of RAM on [next-gen] consoles for graphics, your PC GPU needs enough VRAM for ultra options due to the lack of unified mem[ory]"

Correct. And given that what - say less than 5% of pc gamers only have access to 3GB or less, then surely Ubi should have taken that in to account during the development process on PC to ensure it was better optimised. As I have said in other threads, very, VERY poor AAA release, coming hot on the heels of BF4 and COD Ghosts (different devs obviously). Sure fire way of turning people away from PC gaming - I bet neither Nvidia, nor AMD want that to happen, so they need to put pressure on the devs to get their act together!!!

When I get home this weekend I'll get it all setup and double check everything. Like I said that was only using afterburner and looking at the median. Can you recommend a better way to record the fps? It showed the max cpu load at 54% and maxed at 2895 of vram

I'll pm you if you'd like? I'd imagine this thread will get pretty full over the next few days.

I think I'll wait a while until I get to the point where it's economically viable to upgrade my PC! - the game should also be a lot cheaper too and patched as much as it's going to be :D

Anyways - need to be saving money for my Elite: Dangerous setup and Beta access

I use the afterburner OSD for my FPS monitoring mate.

Can't say i share your issues with SLI, been running SLI 680's since release and it's silky smooth.

I've got 7950's mate. Just from what i've read about xfire/SLI being a bit ropey in it. I know Xfire is all over the shop for me. Runs better on single card.

Not had any issues running the game maxed out on my 290x at stock, ultra settings, x4 msaa, 1080p though, fps is around 55-70 for the most part with dips to 45 while driving.
Vram usage at those settings is around 3600-3700mb though.

I'd agree that while the game can look fantastic at times, it's not the most optimized of games.

Only crash I've had is from running out of ram strangely enough.
