Hi guys,

I am looking for a cheap tablet around £50, preferably brand new. It's main use will be web browsing and maybe some social apps, facebook, skype etc.

Are there any good suggestions?

Thanks :)

In my line of work I see a lot of cheap tablets and I'll be honest, I've never seen or used one that I would even consider buying. Painfully slow with rubbish displays. I'd up the budget to around £99 and buy a refurbished Nexus 7.

I see your point and I would probably agree from what I have seen.

Surely there must be one that's reasonable though! I guess I will have to increase it like you have said.

I've been this road recently, google is your friend for finding the downsides to tablets. With the cheap ones there's usually many! My budget kept going up. In the end I got a new kindle fire HDX 8.9 and couldn't be happier. I used to have a nexus 7 which my daughter ended up having off me. That's now a pricey door stop. Died out of warranty and Google were talking silly money just to look at it.

A certain game shop are selling a Yarvik Noble Mini 7.85" , which looks just like an iPad mini for £50, was eying one up for the kids to watch films on and this looked a really good spec for the money.
The advent Vega tegra 7 can be found for £99, this is actually what I decided to go for since I hope would perform much better.
I actually got it for £70 in the end so not too fused if it's pants!

Advent Tegra Note 7

Can get it for £99 from a high street store. Google shopping search it.

A lot of people seem very happy with it, and it is what I would buy for under £100. Has front facing speakers and a decent enough screen.

My mom has a tab 3 7.0 and I find it slow at times.
Haven't had other tablets except for the blackberry one, so don't have much to compare but as I can definitely feel it lag sometimes.
