Before someone provides me with a link to Google, I can assure you I've searched already.

So as a Londoner, as most of you are probably aware, property prices are hitting frankly disgusting levels. Not sure where all this money has come from.. so it got me thinking..

I'm curious, given I don't have a sieve-like memory - Just how much has been pumped into the UK economy through quantitative easing (QE) since 2008?

I'm trying to connect a very vague dot between what happened during the financial collapseof the world, and what is happening now. This might sound a bit far fetched, but I've felt a bit a deja vu..

foreign investment in London property as it's seen as a very solid investment even without having to bother renting it out.

Between March and November 2009, the MPC authorised the purchase of £200 billion worth of assets, mostly UK Government debt or “gilts”. The MPC voted to begin further purchases of £75 billion in October 2011 and, subsequently, at its meeting in February 2012 the Committee decided to buy an additional £50 bn. In July the MPC announced the purchase of a further £50bn to bring total assets purchases to £375 bn.

Correct. But foreign investment surely must only account for a fraction of the spend in London.. Probably within the Zone 1 areas..

Great,

So tell me, how much has been spent? Given that article only mentions the spend in 2009..

you're kidding me - I've even highlighted it for you

and you're calling me an idiot.... its literally the first thing on the google search... you could even read the wikipedia article on quantitative easing to get the answer....

@OP - for the sake of basic reading comprehension - the bit where it says "total assets purchases to £375 bn"

means the total... as in all of it... everything... over the years...

comes to: 375 billion

I realise that's hard to grasp you may want to read it a few times
but

its: 375 billion

that is:

375,000,000,000

OK?

LOL we have a live one here folks...with that sort of attitude fella you wont last long here...try to refrain from calling people idiots especially when it makes you look like a bigger one.

Got that wrong IMO. It's not just Zone 1, it's pretty much anywhere with new build apartments within a good distance of public transport. It's also not just millionaires.
