3840x2160 Gaming Best GPU Solution

I am only posting as a 4K SLI gamer and using what I have seen as my reasoning. If AMD 4GB user's are happily gaming at 4K with no VRAM issues, that is good Matt.

Mantle on 4K settings runs like £$%^ with quadfire and is a real VRAM hog causing huge spikes in BF4, the latest drivers are better but it is still not as good as DX11.

How does it go with DX at 4K scaling and three cards, kaap?

I'd try it myself, but that rig's kind of out of action for the moment.

If you use 4K settings the scaling is very good with 3 or 4 cards on BF4. DX11 is best for this resolution as it uses a lot less VRAM, with Mantle you use the full 4gb of VRAM plus system memory which causes nasty spikes on the CPU.

Average fps @4k maxed settings I get between 90 and 130fps averages on 4 cards so if I was using 3 it would drop to about between 70 and 95 fps.

I like using maxed 4K settings as it tends to smooth out the extremes in the fps as the CPU does not have to work so hard.

Yeah, I get a 500-800MB difference between Mantle/DX maxed @1080p 150% with 7970's and it's the difference between very playable and bloody annoying...
Again though, I'd like to see how much of a vram usage difference there is between actual 4K and scaling to 4K.

Anyway, OP asked what the best bang for buck for a grand is and it's gotta be 290 trifire assuming he has the rest of the gear to go with it.

I really don't see the point of recording a game at crazy res' and then upload them to YouTube at 1080p... fail!!

ShadowPlay now does 1600P recording but I imagine it would take me about 2 weeks to upload a 20 minute vid with my super awesome dial up :D

Yes i saw that nice addition to ShadowPlay. Any idea what the bitrate of the 1440P files are? Are they MP4 files?
