A member of the production team for the movie Trespass Against Us recently visited my place of work to notify us that Potboiler Productions are shooting a car chase scene later this month in the shopping parade adjacent.
I also live nearby, and so it might be a good opportunity to get a glimpse of Michael Fassbender or ask him to sign my DVDs of Centurion, Prometheus and X-Men First Class if I can catch him during an interval. :p

I'll include some pictures in this thread if I have the opportunity. Filming starts on June 22nd.

Has anyone else been privileged to witness a film being shot in their local area?

Lacock is constantly being used for filming, only 10 mins down the road from me! Never really been bothered to go an see who's there, but it sounds like you've got a more exciting opportunity.

Our work site was most recently used in Day Of The Triffids, as well as a couple of other forthcoming productions. I think it's in a couple of Bond films, too.

They film loads of Doctor Who in and around Newport. My friend's street is regularly used and they always ask if she wants to be an extra.

Also a fair bit of Casualty and the cafe in Being Human.

Dr Who has filmed on my street a few times.
Whilst its great for fans, it can get irritating for those that live here.

"Excuse me Sir, would you mind parking your car on the next street and not on your driveway as its in our shot?"
"If its in your shot and its a driveway, surely a car being on it wouldn't matter?"
"Usually yes, but the scene is set in the 80's and your car is too modern"
"Yeah sure not a problem, how long for?"
"3 days and overnight"
"Well, OK then"
I moved my car round the corner....no space at all. This may be because all the other 70 odd modern cars were already parked there as all as the residents of that street.
After half an hour of driving around nearby, I drove home and parked on the driveway again. This was after trying to convince some stuck up jobsworth that I did live on the street who then spent 20 mins on the radio asking someone else if it was okay. I don't know what the answer was as I got bored and just drove past him when he wandered away from the car.
They then refused to let my missus out of the driveway to go to work as they were filming. A flash of a warrant card and threat of prosecution put a stop to filming quite quickly. They still refused to let her home again later on and it was the same guy from the morning.

They gave that end of the street a wide berth the next time.

It's a regular occurrence here in the middle of Cambridge...

Trinity Lane is closed now and then for filming of one thing or another and given it's appearance, I'm not surprised why:

The yellow lines are usually covered over with dirt or black... stuff.

My office is just through this big fancy gate at the far end of the road, another nice backdrop I imagine:

We had Dick and Dom filming here not long ago :p

We had an episode of New Tricks filmed in our house a few years ago, think they paid £2k for the 2 days they were there. Was a bit annoying coming home having to wait to come inside and go upstairs and keep quiet.
I have no interest in the show at all so when they asked if I'd like to meet the cast I told them politely 'no'.

Saw a bit of The Hustle with Robert Vaughn being filmed in Brindleyplace, Birmingham. Get out the lift and some guy aggressively "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhushing" everyone :).

Which Newport are you in guys? The one I know best is by Cardiff/Bristol, but I live in Stafford now and apparently there's one near me too.

The hospital where I work was filmed for a documentary about 3 years ago, but that's about it for me.

Parts of Wolf Hall is being filmed around this area - seen a few of the smaller stars/support cast and production people involved and some people have apparently sighted some of the bigger names though not seen them myself.

In Ealing around Pitshanger where I live, fairly regular, mainly dramas or daytime TV shows. I don't have much interest in celebs etc so rarely pay attention.

My parents have been asked a few times if they would "loan" their house for filming.

Yeah good luck getting anywhere near people to get autographs, sets are tightly controlled even on public shoots

I would be surprised if this wasn't the case. Unless you have a way 'in' or the talent actually leaves the location voluntarily.

Why would anyone be "privileged"?

It's not everyday an A-list celebrity Magneto turns up at your local shopping precinct. :p I happen to live and work in the area, and for it to feature in a film is certainly out of the ordinary.

I'm not really the star-struck type. Now if Yolandi Vi$$er wanted to film a video on my street I suppose I would be all over it.
