Android App - Battery Life Repair

I think most of these things are a pile of crap, a bit like the pc speed up software you can get.

Was thinking the same but the majority of the reviews all state it does work and it has certainly done something to my battery life but might be my imagination lol!

How would this increase battery life by "up to 70%"?

I imagine it's all in the mind and people are falling for it, the reviews... :o

Yeah it has to be. Seems too good to be true and the developer appears to have gone to a lot of effort with the eye candy and animation on the main screen when the app is running.

The majority of people don't really know what they're talking about though.

Yeah it does seem the developer is out to try and con people. Google should not allow these sort of Apps but I guess they get ££ so don't care if it's popular and generating monies.

I was simply trying to establish what (if any) effect this App had on battery life.

Well I can tell you it drains the battery by spamming the phone with "Please accept our airpush ads" "Install this app please" etc. Decided to install it on an old phone and my god it's just advertisement spam.

Well we have to look into these things. I did smell a rat but looking at the reviews I was a little mislead and hence my post on here. I was simply keen to understand how a so called bit of software could repair a bit of hardware :)

It was once believed that resetting the battery stats on an andriod phone would improve the life of your battery.
Some guff to do with the o/s getting confuzzled and messed up at what level you would put your phone on charge etc.

Google soon put a stop to that little gem of guano.

"The battery indicator in the status/notification bar is a reflection of the batterystats.bin file in the data/system/ directory."

No, it does not.

This file is used to maintain, across reboots, low-level data about the kinds of operations the device and your apps are doing between battery changes. That is, it is solely used to compute the blame for battery usage shown in the "Battery Use" UI in settings.

That is, it has deeply significant things like "app X held a wake lock for 2 minutes" and "the screen was on at 60% brightness for 10 minutes."

It has no impact on the current battery level shown to you.

It has no impact on your battery life.

Deleting it is not going to do anything to make your more device more fantastic and wonderful... well, unless you have some deep hatred for seeing anything shown in the battery usage UI. And anyway, it is reset every time you unplug from power with a relatively full charge (thus why the battery usage UI data resets at that point), so this would be a much easier way to make it go away.
