Your first, favourite and worst GPU.

Slight deviation, but how quiet is the 7990 on air? I've been looking to replace my 7979 with one as they are dead cheap at the moment.

If you use my bios, undervolt and have good case cooling then it runs pretty quiet. On Auto fan if you can keep it between 80-85c then the fan speed stays quiet low. Mine used to operate in the low to mid 80's range when playing BF4 with vsync off and the noise was pleasant. Beyond that it did get noticeable.

My first pc gpu was a Matrox Mystique

My favourite card was 9800 pro / voodoo 2 cannot decide which one but if I had to pick one it would be v2 because of the big jump in graphics still remember thinking WOW seeing the lighting effects in Q2, the only thing I remember having the same feeling the fist time I logged into EQ1 and stated running around the 3d world,GeForce3 Ti 200 is a good 3rd.

My worst card was 8800 320

That's good to know. My biggest issue maybe cooling as I've got the Parvum S2 with 2x120mm zaward G3s as an intake. My current 7970 hits 85 deg with a 1500rpm limit and on full whack will drop to 75-77.

First GPU: Voodoo2 I think - was this the one you looped your 2D output (Diamond Stealth 64 I remember for sure) into the card? Edit: Was a STB Blackmagic 3D I had.
Favourite GPU: Nvidia 8800GTX
Worst GPU: ATI 2900XT

I've recently bought a 780Ti - Absolutely disgusting what we all pay for graphics cards now a days.
As an aside, I bought a Asus 9800XT for £400 in 2003 - that's £600 in today's money, so things haven't really changed that much for a single chip GPU.

Yeah I remember looking at the 8800gtx for over a year and they were high for ages never mind the ultra's so I got a 320, I wished I spent more and got the gtx.

First: Creative Labs 3D Blaster
Favourite: Asus Titan
Worst: PNY Quadro 4000 - awful card, underpowered yet still overheated constantly.

First graphics card (if you could call it that) was a Trident SVGA 512K jobbie, was able to display a mahooosive 256 colours!

First proper card was a 3DFX Voodoo card. Still remember being amazed by a room in Quake 2 that had a large display that was transparent! Used their Glide API, was utterly superb at the time.

First: geforce 2 MX
Worst: 7300 GS, sounded like a jet engine, couldnt provide fps in anything
Best: Geforce 9800 GTX+

First proper for me was the VideoLogic Apocalypse 3D, favourite had to be the TNT2 Ultra, I think it was the timing of its release with games like Half Life, Sin and Shogo:MAD

Worst so far has to be AMD R9 290, after 3 RMA's, im sitting here not knowing whether to risk a 290X or go back to Nvidia

First: Geforce 2 64mb MX 400

Favourite: XFX Geforce 6600gt 256mb PCI-E - what a trooper! Fond memories.

Worst: Not sure, probably my current one - the stutters in some games drive me insane! Not sure if it's the card or the games though :/

first? hmm..

iFirst: 5600FX?
Favourite: 6600GT < was a beast! or 280GTX SLI
Worst: 7970 Gigabtye < fans always broke

now 7990 :D

First: GeForce 4 MX440

Worst: See above, it lasted all of about a month before I got the bug to upgrade.

Fave: Gotta be the 8800Gtx, an absolute monster in its time.

To be honest, every higher end card I've owned has been up there, above or just below the £400 mark.

First: Pace PMC 3D Edge 16MB GPU - gave me a TV-out socket and enabled me to play DVDs on the TV downstairs via a REALLY long S-Video lead.
Best: XFX 5870 - as fast as my 2 4870s, and my first introduction to three screen gaming
Worst: PNY 6200 - wasn't an improvement on the onboard of my 939 motherboard, came with Far Cry but couldn't play it above Low, most confusing GPU ever. :)

First GPU: Voodoo 3 PCI - finally allowed me to get 60fps in Quake 3.

Favourite GPU: Sapphire 5850 (gave me 2 solid years of great performance)

Worst GPU: Nvidia 780 ( Went through 3 of them, all had different faults)
