switching from Virgin Media to TalkTalk Broadband

seems like a good deal at only 20 gbp a month for the first 6 months compared to 80 gbp a month for the current virgin media package,is there anything i need to know about in regards of there service etc?
 
Great deal if you don't like video or images and think the internet has got too fast and should be like it was when you were a kid.

"DL speeds" are the same with Talktalk as with any other ADSL2+/FTTC provider. The line is the same, the sync will be the same.

Talktalk billing is modern and efficient, as with any large company i am sure they mess up from time to time, but that can happen anywhere.

Poor service, no, its the same as any other ADSL2+/FTTC provider. Customer service is understaffed and under trained at the first line, but then what do you expect for their ludicrously low prices? Its not as if you should need to be calling CS of an ISP very often at all.

I moved from a premium expensive ISP (Eclipse Internet, who were utterly excellent) to talktalk when my exchange finally became unbundled (was previously market 1, i am rural). Customer service is far worse as noted above, but frankly you never call them, and the price is quite literally about 1/4 of the eclipse amount. The actual connection is identical.

Couldn't you just shrink the TV package to a smaller one?

And TalkTalk broadband is really unreliable during peak times, Plusnet would've been a much better choice.
 
How far are you from the exchange?

YouView is ok as long as you get the Plus box so you can record. The whole interface and remote is far better than Virgin's STB though you don't get as much On Demand content.

Sky is the best for TV.
 
That package looks ridiculously expensive for what you're getting.

Look at the new Bundles on Virgins website.

am lost to why you only got up to 30mb,tv xl,phone m. we paying near the same a month on 160 mb, tv= xl, phone xl . i be asking for more speed than 30mb at least you should be on 60mb. anyway you think talk-talk would be better. come back hear after a month or two and then tell us about their service.i bet you any money you would say i should have stated with sir richard B :)
 
You are getting ripped off..

I just put in your current package with Virgin as a new customer (except broadband is 50Mb) and it is £61.99 per month..

You are paying a whooping £25 extra a month for being a loyal customer (and for slower broadband!)...
