How wide are your feet?
Sidi shoes are great for narrow feet.
(having said that, I have very wide feet but i squeeze them into sidis anyway)
Coo - Sidis are super narrow.

I've got thin feet and Giro fit me like a glove.
Specialized are higher across the bridge than Giro. Northwave are wider at the toebox.
Ok didn't realise I could access Strava via Android, have downloaded that to use for recording.
Question - If I start recording via strava then lock my phone and put it in my pocket will it still record the ride? Or do I need to have it mounted on the bars and running during the recording process?

Okay, almost a year ago to the day I bought myself my first road bike. At the time I was nearly 15 stone and massively unfit. The first bike was only a Viking from Go Outdoors and I had quite a few problems with it, but it did get me interested in biking.
Forward on a year and I have lost quite a bit of weight (little bit more to go now), and today have just done my biggest ride to date. I tried it on Thursday of last week, but it was really quite windy and my legs just cramped up after about 50 miles, so kinda had to abandon the attempt.
Anyway todays: http://www.strava.com/activities/151414573
Happy with it, would have liked the average to have been over 18mph, but only just missed out.
Are cycle clubs worth joining? I have a mate at work that keeps trying to persuade me to join our local club (he goes), but tbh I just ain't as quick as him, and I feel a little like if I go along I will just embarrass myself.

Well, you have to start somewhere. I'm not sure any of us would have endorsed a Viking bike, but it got you going at least!
Good work! That average is very impressive over that distance.
17.9mph over 72.7 miles is plenty fast enough to join a club. Seriously.
