Here's nine minutes of gameplay from the new Call of Duty

Visually looked ok some good stuff some so so but gameplay seemed really stock and stale.

EDIT: Can't even bring myself to make some semi-humorous comment about it.

Looks better than the new 'BF' game, that's not saying much. Wondering what engine they're using, if it's still the modified Quake one i'll literally **** myself.

The FOV on that video looks super-narrow too, maybe 55-65?

God their texture work is so shoddy. but the masses will buy it so who cares right?!
and that is 100% on pc (high tessellation and particle effects) so it will only look worse when it hits consoles.

I was rather hoping for a non-linear approach, but I suppose Crytek's Homefront: The Revolution will fill that void. It's a shame EVERY iteration of Call of Duty consists of a heavily scripted campaign, and an emphasis on multiplayer.

If it gets Dedicated Servers on the PC then I guess I'll get it once the price comes down...

I have Black Ops 2 but no dedi servers means I'm not installing it agian. MW3 and COD4:MW still the only two worth playing.....

Some interesting and possibly refreshing new game concepts there, though as I'm most definitely not a fan of COD, I'll be wary before parting with any cash. As per usual with games like this, it's only the single player that will interest me, and due to the high prices that Activision like to charge (and for such a great length of time too), it'll probably be ages before I get my hands on it.

Personally I doubt that in 40 years time the US will have any of the tech shown in that. Yes a lot of it is being developed but Defence spending will likely continue to be cut, Tanks will still look like they do now, soldiers may have holographic helmets with battle displays etc. but weapons will still fire bullets held in magazines, most soldiers won't have 'jump jets' and very little will have changed. Sure it looks great though!

The one and only thing that concerns me in that video is the complete lack of any recoil in the weapon shown. Surely that isn't a good thing for multiplayer. However, the good things I saw include being able to dodge, similar to the unreal tournament games, having a double jump and the smart grenades giving more tactical options. Smart grenades look overpowered, but it looks like you get a few seconds to shoot at it before it even tries to get to you, which on a PC isn't an issue.

I'd like it if the devs sorted out the weapon sizes. Sure, you can usually alter the fov, but in some games the weapon model still remains too large for my liking.
