Private/local seller advise needed

reply i got back No luck finding the receipt sorry.

hmm im going over now to check the gpu and owner if all is good, going to take a risk
il ask for 3 day guarantee also

il bring her home with me its only 110 worth the risk, once i get home what testing should i do with what software. basically once it is at home with me what procedure do i need to follow, to carry out to to confirms its not faulty.

What is the next cheapest one you can get? I wouldn't be happy with this myself to be honest. If it is faulty he might become "difficult" about it.

Run MSI Kombustor or something and see that it runs at the correct speeds within acceptable temperatures with no artifacting etc. Then have a good ol' gaming stint.

I wouldn't touch this to be honest. If it turns out to be faulty it has to go through the original retailer (Asus RMA's are only through the retailer it was purchased from) who will only accept a RMA from him. If he doesn't play ball you are screwed and will have lost £110. He seems to have an excuse for everything. No thanks.

I'm naturally a suspicious person but even then, things don't feel quite right.
"Can I bring my own PC round to test the card?"
"No, I only have one electrical socket in the house and my own PC is plugged into it"
"What if I power it using my own battery pack?"
"Sorry, no, it might produce a whining noise that would upset the dog"
"We could do the test in the garden, then"
"No can do, I'm agoraphobic"
Etc etc

On the other hand, a proper scammer is unlikely to be free and easy with their home address.

Agree with this.

Not worth the risk without any form of protection that would get your money back, unlike if you were to buy it from the bay. Could end up paying £110 for a useless paperweight.

lol you guys

update

dam wright i ended up buying it with no 3 day guarantee i know what your going too say but i knew the risk .

yeh i was suspicious too at first but after meeting the guy at his house. he is in his early 40s aftter talking to him on personally basis and how he acted throughout the deal convinced me that it was genuine sale.

i took my brother as while just in case i got carried with the blind deal, so got is opinion and he was happy with sale to proceed.

we talked about the gpu ofc, photography he showed me his portfolio, give his business card

we had a lot of things in common and we got on well so i guess all is left to do his test the gpu to see if i got bargain or not.

just got home and got pm from him saying if thier was any problems it would help out.

wright need some advise to test this bad boy on open test bench spec are in sig of set up monitor asus VG278HE 144 Hz

Have a fire extinguisher ready :D

Try a few loops of the Heaven bench program (settings can be found in the Heaven thread in this section of the forum)

Also run MSI Afterburner in the background to keep an eye on the temps, also check both fans are running on the GPU itself :)

Edit: also play a few of your favorite games to check its behaving itself?

wright we shall see but could answer my question that i had asked mulpsmebeauty

hahah wuts one those Spce Monkey back on the topic should i not use the rog gpu-z software to monitor my temps.

Pretty much what space monkey said.
When connecting up that beast and turning on the GPU Asus GPU's have lights by the power sockets , check that both are green.
MSI afterburner or EVGA precision, run a few heaven 4.0 loops. make sure you have latest drivers. Turn on screen display on to see temps etc but heaven should tell you somewhere anyway.

I assume it will be at stock + kepler boost so check for any blibs of pink/black and weird textures/broken textures while the bench is running.

Make sure both fans are spinning, shut the test down if it hits over 85 imo DCUII coolers are very good and if you have decent airflow in your case it shouldn't get that high, I have twin Asus DCUII GTX 670 4GB's and my top card only hits 78c in summer in an attic room so it's warmer than outside currently. I use a custom fan profile but still the point is there.

I fully recommend running Heaven 4.0 located here: http://unigine.com/products/heaven/download/ it stresses the GPU more than a game (don't worry it's perfectly safe) and is a good indicator if something is not right.
and yes you can use GPU-Z but if you use MSI afterburner you can A. set custom fan profiles and B. overclock further while C. Keeping an eye on your core clocks, memory clocks, temps and fan speed with the onscreen display provided
you can download MSI afterburner here: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

Yea with MSI Afterburner you can enable On-screen display monitors of GPU temps, fanspeed, GPU and memory usage...and recent added monitoring for CPU temp and usage as well! You can also set up a custom fanspeed profile as well.

Hope it all goes well with the card. If everything is fine, you might not only have gotten yourself a bargain, but may be a new friend as well (if you keep in contact with the seller, since you guys seem to have so much in common) ;)

yeh the person whom i bought it off said he never oc so its should be stock and im testing it on open bench not in the case because im modding the case the moment.

so all i need is the heavens and msi afterburner software anything else before i begin

make sure you have latest drivers (337.88) or you can go ahead and get Geforce experience if you dont have it already http://www.geforce.co.uk/geforce-experience/download that will take care of drivers for you

once you have that sorted, go ahead and run MSI after burner, take a look through the options screen for onscreen display and set it up.
Then run heaven on these settings
25p4rns.jpg.png

change res to your screen res if your not running 1080p

and click run, good luck :)

will do murah was going to do that anyways but thankyou for reminding me about the Geforce experience,

when you say set up after burner sorry never used after burner what do yo u mean i.e the option i want to monitor etc

yeh the screen resolution is 190x1080 so just copy that screen shot you sent me
