Z4 remote control roof activated

Good luck with that. There is a garage in Hull but they quoted me £75 plus a 7 hour drive :p

K&M can't quote me a 7 hour drive, it's only 10 minutes away. ;)

They quoted me £40 to reflash my LCM so I imagine (or hope) it will cost about that for these options if they can do it.

Yeah they should be able to do it then. Don't let them fob you off making out its all technical. He literally clicked on one of 8-9 categories (body, Keys etc )
Which then had a list of possible options on the left hand side that he could just switch from inactive to active with one click and thats it.

Very sweet, how much do these things go for these days? :D

A very nice feature.

Mine was £10,500 13 months ago. Can be picked up for a bit less now :)

Wicksta could you just let me know what the garage in windsor say as to whether they can do it or not? Got another guy waiting to hear the response who lives down south.

This is the beauty of body computers, there's a box which sees you've pressed whatever button, and moves/flashes the window/roof/lights as it has been programmed to do.

That's well cool. Can you put the roof up and down while moving?

Only at about 10mph or less.

Just called Specialist Vehicles in Plymouth who can do this as well apparently though for £35+vat.

Seems any indy with an Autologic thingy can. Easier than trekking the Z4 all the way to Telford!

Is there a way to do it without the diagnostic computer? I can alter my remote locking and alarm's behaviour by tapping out a code using the bonnet sensor on the slam panel as a button.

What, calling the RAC with smoke signals? :D

It does beg the question... if these are all available by such simple means, why aren't they in the first place?

Sorry, a 5 year old necro post, but just to say thankyou for this!!!

Went and visited http://www.autotechperformance.co.uk/ today after reading this thread, the guys popped out with me, plugged their 'puter in and asked me what I wanted to turn on or off.

10 minutes and £15 later, all done and on my way.

Now this bought back some sweet memories.

* looks out of window at 100,000 mile Vectra diesel on the drive :( *

Getting old sucks.

I was wondering if some of those options could be programmed in. Anyone know anywhere in the south east (Dartford) area that would be able to do it, or have BMW stopped lying about it/charging £1000 per tick box clicked ?

Yes of course. I can see the conversation now.

'Can you make the roof go up and down on my key, I have a 2003 Z4'
'No sir but I can sell you a 2004 Z4'

Salesmen will be salesmen.

When I worked at Toyota I overheard a colleague who was new asking our sales manager about if a feature was available on a customers old Rav 4 (which was in for service) to be told no, sell him a new one. I kid you not.
