I'm at the end of my two year contract with Three, I have a SG3 on the One Plan and currently pay £34 pm.

I'm still quite happy with my SG3 since I flashed Slimkat, but I do hanker after 4G! I could keep the SG3 and get a One Plan Sim on 12 month contract for £20 pm or rolling monthly for £23 which got me thinking for an extra tenner or so I may as well get a new phone.

Mainly use my phone for data and could get by with just 100 mins and txts but would like unlimited data with some tethering (not loads), I need a Micro SD slot and a decent camera. Quite like the look of the HTC One M8

With all that in mind what's the best phone and contract for me?

Thanks :)

If you are happy with your current phone then keep it, is 4G quite prevalent in your area?

Perhaps get a sim only with 3 on the ultimate internet plan on a 1 month contract? £12.90 for the month unlimited data, 2000 mins and 5000 texts?

Then when you get better 4G coverage purchase a new phone or contract.

I looked at the £12.90 plan but unfortunately it doesn't allow tethering :(

I'm actually tethering right now, it is something I need just for surfing etc. At lunch time :)

I am just waiting for an M8 to arrive switching from a SG3. Got £36pm from Tesco with 2000 minutes and 5000 texts plus 2gb data(I was paying £28pm for much less so thought an upgrade would be nice). Can't wait!...I'll let you know how it compares.

EE actually offered me a better deal, but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced so I am avoiding them at all costs now!

Same boat here, upgrade due on 3, paying £34 pm on an SIII, really don't want to pay more.. I'm very tempted to get a 3 sim only contract and slash the monthly bill.

I do fancy an HTC M8 but the thought of £40 pm for the plan I want and being locked up another 2 years really puts me off.

After a bit more research the LG G3 looks pretty darn good on this preorder £35 per month vodaphone deal with 5gb data:

Seems like it beats all the current phones on spec, looks sleeker and it doesn't have the ugly pointless front facing speakers and gawdy bezel of the M8. I generally use between 1 and 2 gb mobile data, so a 2 gb plan would be a bit restrictive, but 5 is ample for me.

3mobile don't seem to be taking preorders yet, but seeing I'm currently with 3 I might hold my horses for a month and see what deals they can do to compete, as I've been very happy with the 3 service, especialy internet connection.

The LG G3 also looks to be set at a slightly lower handest price than the S5 and M8, which means we should see some cracking contract plans in comparison to the competition.

The lg g3 is the one to get, they all have there pros and cons, but as an all rounder the lg g3 comes up top beating samsung,Sony,Htcs efforts- the screen is something else. No doubt in another 3 months or so there will be something to compete with it.

Yeh, I've pretty much convinced myself after watching a few youtubes and looking at specs, it's a convincing rather than incremental upgrade from the galaxy s3. I like its looks (I'm not 100% on the S5 or the M8 aesthetics) and if current speculation is correct I should be able to get it at no extra cost to my current plan.
