Hi all.
I have a 2007 Focus and the washers will not work.
There is no whirring noise, but the wipers do their automatic 3 passes following a press of the button. Filled up bottle with water and no change.
I doubt it is leaking as any water dripping out of the bonnet area is a result of moving the car for the first time after a week of no use and after heavy rain.

Going to proceed with buying a new washer motor, but wanted to sound it out on here as last time I bought a part is was a wheel bearing which it turned out I needed a press to fit :p.

A local motorfactors sells the part for £23, another one £13. Ebay is £10. A quick google online shows Ford to be around £40.

As above check the fuse and connection - if the fuse has gone and you replace it but it tries to spray then blows again try rinsing out the screenwash tank as you can get a build up of algae (from screenwash) over time causing blockages.

If the wash/wipe function still works the fuse will be intact. I suspect the motor has gone, or there is a fault in the wiring to the pump. If you want to test it further, put the probes of a voltmeter across the two terminals in the plug to the pump and get someone to press the button, the voltmeter should show battery voltage when the switch is pressed.

Found the fuse box under the passenger side of the dash.
It is in a really awkward place so will have to find a diagram of the fuse layout first.

I am 95% sure it is a broken pump but it makes sense to check a few free things first!

This is how I would go.

My 2006 pdf version says fuse 47 15A for the washer motor and heated jets, the wipers themselves are on fuse 50 which makes sense from a safety point of view you'd still want the wipers working regardless of the washers.

Looking at the layout there are 2 rows of mini blade fuses running along the bottom of the fusebox with 6 fuses above that. Of the 2 long rows, top left is Fuse 43 going across left to right up to fuse 64, then 65 and beyond are the lower row.

Not got time now but can post picture later if needed

Hope this helps

I have found the owner's manual with the correct fuse box after a fair while searching.
Quite poor that mine is completely wrong tbh, but hey ho.
All these fuses start from number 100A.
Fuse 136 is washer jet pump, 15A.

Pulled the fuse and inspected it - Fine.

Is your Focus a facelift then if the fuse numbers are in the 100's?

Does sound like the motor has failed then, next step would be to get to the wiring connection and check voltage there. Reckon it's the front right wheel off then some torx 30 screws to drop down the wheelarch liner, from memory the washer bottle is in 2 sections on the Focus - info and maybe a youtube video will be out there somewhere :)

My Focus is a bit of MK2.25.

The styling is all pre-facelift.
It has the facelift dash (so a friend says).
It has the Stereo out of the Focus ST (factory fitted).
It has no DPF (oooooooooh yeah).

Ford looked up my registration when I asked if I had a DPF. They said yes. I had a look underneath the car. It definitely does not have one, or has it ever had one since the car was owned by Dad from 6 months old.
Clearly they have no idea what the were selling at that moment in time.

It does sound a bit of a hybrid!

I've had both pre-facelift and facelift ST's, from memory the only difference in the dash is the facelift got new dials/gauges with chrome centres to the speedo & tacho dials, plus updated with better fuel computer and gubbins on the dash - the tacho also goes up in increments of 100's so reads 10, 20, 30 etc instead of 1000's. Later pre-facelifts also got the oval radio in the dash so that's not unique to facelift.

The radio wouldn't have been specific to the ST - I think you could spec up different levels of radio from the factory.

Have you put your reg no. in the Ford ETIS site and seen what it says for build spec? Some of the info will be bit difficult to decipher and they call things different in the factory than you might expect....

www.etis.ford.com

Pick VEHICLE from top menu then you can enter reg no or if the car's had a personal plate at some point put in the VIN instead.

Hi all.
Today I removed wheel arch liner and washer bottle.
I then bridged the washer motor pins on the wiring harness with a voltmeter, just to check that it was the motor that was blown. I bought a new one for £12 from a motorfactors and it is now fixed.

Thanks for the help!
