the wire that connects to the battery door on my bose headphones snapped off and I was wondering what to do.

I am going to buy a soldering iron and try and solder the cable back but I haven't used a soldering iron in over 15 years.

Any tips or advice on what to do? Headphones are out of warranty btw.

BOSE are crap, should have bought sennheiser, cheaper and better quality.

Not what you wanted to hear but BOSE stuff is usually worth around 10-25% of it's asking price.

AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, etc offer better headphones for cheaper.

Good god Sonny, I don't care what headphones are better I want to fix the ones I have.. and these headphones aren't rubbish headphones.

Always pushing your own opinion onto others in every thread. :o

I have a pair of AKG k240 studio headphones but like the QC15 for the the noise cancellation. It comes in handy when you just want to listen without outside noise coming in.

Those AKG's aren't that great either.

My advice would be to either:

if you can afford to do so get better headphones or buy better ones within the same price bracket you can sell the old ones for.

so fix the ones you have then sell them and buy better ones around the same price or if you cannot fix them, don't buy BOSE again.

as for noise cancellation, most decent closed over ear headphones do that as standard anyway. wireless headphones generally tend to be overpriced and poor quality compared to wired.

sound city section or head fi forums is where you want to be for advice on headphones not home cinema.

re-post in there and see what people say.

edit:

maybe contact BOSE and pay for a repair? Sennheiser offer that service outwith warranty for any headphone they have ever made, but tbh I doubt BOSE do as they are thieves.

Bose customer services used to be pretty good, might be worth asking them as they may fix them for you, or at least help you with instructions on how to fix them.

These headphones aren't wireless.

I appreciate the advice sonny but I enjoy both sets of headphones and don't want to spend more money on new ones.

I went down to maplin and they gave me advice on what to do. A simple soldering iron project to re-attach the cable is all that is needed.

I am about to do some soldering and see if this fixes it.

If it doesn't fix it, would you be interested in buying new headphones? If so post a thread in sound city section (not here).

Tell them what kind of use they see, gaming, music, movies, etc and what genres. How you like your music, etc. Be as specific as possible. Also give a rough budget.

You would be surprised I sold a pair of headphones in the MM for £22.50 they were HTF600's (inc delivery) that sound better than the guy who I sold them to's £200 headphones. He was ashamed to admit that too lol.

Basically BOSE are very overpriced. Phillips, Panasonic, Sony, Shure, Creative even all make really good cheap headphones.

You don't need to spend HUGE amounts for quality, £30 will get you PortaPro's which when modded sound better than a lot of headphones over £100.

Even if you do manage to fix them, you may bet better off selling them as uneducated buyers on ebay will be willing to pay money for the brand name.

You're as bad as those people who knock on my door and try to discuss God and the meaning of life!

Sonny, come on, go and preach to the people who think that Beats headphones are worth the £300 price tag and leave this poor chap alone. :p

I see what you are saying, and I agree with you on many points, but he has said he likes his Bose headphones and doesn't intend on replacing them and that is where you should have dropped it. :p
