Gameworks, Mantle and a pot calling a kettle black

So is the problem that AMD users think they should be getting more performance than the respective Nvidia cards and are unhappy because they're getting fairly even performance?

I think that is very much the case, they buy a cheaper graphics card with often slightly better specs than the what NVidia offers just assuming that it should automatically run better in everything, without thinking about the fact that the reason they have saved so much money and got a better spec of card for cheaper is because AMD is much less active when it comes to optimising games during the development stages and are reluctant (as evidenced by their demands for source code) to put too much effort in during post-release stage.

NVidia charge more, release slightly less well specced cards but invest and put the work in behind the scenes to ensure that the money their customers have spent is rewarded with top compatiblity/performance. I guess AMD owners resent that even though they have considerably more money left in their wallets.

So far ive been told i talk bullcrap, im utterly clueless and have been baited continuously for the past couple of pages. Slight difference i say. :p

The thing is that your star swarm 5 minute claim was proven to be completely incorrect.

And it has been proven that you were clueless about the motion blur in custom vs. follow mode because you were completely wrong again.

Giving you proof and refuting your baseless claims is not baiting.

And people were accusing others of putting AMD up as the good guys...:p

With Nvidia's working so close with Ubisoft together, shouldn't have Ubisoft sorted themselves out by now after so many buggy releases?

I will grant you the buggy releases from UBI.... Proper frustrating as well, as they do some damned good games but bugs are a grrrrr.

EA are the same and just seems they don't care .

I still don't see motion blur so i was inclined to think it was not running or working because i could not see it. I just used that custom csv file you gave me without examining it or understanding what any of it meant.

I'm at work.
Hopefully 2560x1080 works with Batman AO.

I am sure it does....2 secs and I will look.

OT, are you enjoying that res? I was tempted by the LG bigger res widescreen but having already got the sammy, it was a no no.

Edit:

2560x1080 is selectable :)

I'm loving 2560x1080.
4K is dead to me.

I'm jumping on 3440x1440 when new GPU's hit, and one's available with Gsync/Freesync.

Although if there's both a Gsync and a Freesync available, depending on whether or not AMD has game streaming to an android client (Like is possible with Nvidia's GPU and modern android devices) then I'll be going Gsync.

Seems like my original predictions of AMD proponents desperately trying to find something to satisfy their anti-Nvidia needs were correct given the past few pages...

Let's think about all this logically now.

  • First we have claims that AMD were locked out from the actual game code in a few games which utilise the GameWorks libraries. There is not much in the way of evidence to back up these claims, however, and it seems it's mostly based on speculation and conjecture from the usual anti-Nvidia crowd and authors of articles online whom are renowned to have a history of repetitive Nvidia hatred.
  • If we consider this for a second we realise that for such claims to be true a games development company would have to be willingly locking out or peeing off around 40% of their PC market. It is fairly obvious at this point that Nvidia would have to pay a significant sum of money to a developer in order for them to be willing for this to happen, and the risks are that the games development company's reputation would likely be knocked and if the truth got out then Nvidia's reputation would also fall; both events resulting in decreased profits for the developers involved.
  • So based on the last bullet point it is fairly clear to see that such a venture by Nvidia and the involved developers would be pretty much completely pointless due to it resulting in negative reputation, decreased profitability and a poorer industry record. Now neither the developers nor Nvidia are stupid and anything which affects the bottom line adversely will not go ahead unless absolutely necessary.
  • Thus far the claims from the AMD proponents on Nvidia's bribery to lock AMD out of the game code for any GW title are looking shaky at best and utter horse turd at worst. So where to go from here? Well, now that the speculators realise that their hypothesis is nonsense they either continue peddling their bs claims, they choose another angle of attack on Nvidia and their associated partners or they concede and admit they were wrong.
  • Unfortunately I haven't seen many take the logical latter approach given their severe lack of evidence for any of the claims so far, a few take the former option and end up looking like crackpot, young earth creationist lunatics peddling nonsense continuously, but most seem to have taken the second option and instead opted to push a different claim against Nvidia.
  • So what are the new claims? Well it was very predictable really what would happen next - the anti-Nvidia crowd start to push the speculation that instead of AMD being locked out from the game code their performance was instead sabotaged by code segments forced by the GameWorks libraries which were entirely designed to punish AMD cards thereby reducing their performance within the game. Of course these claims were not backed up by anything other than a few select tweets from disgruntled former employees of Nvidia/Ubisoft who could've been the cleaners for all we know.
  • But, again, let's examine this new claim in detail. And, again, it turns out the lines of reasoning which leads us to the conclusion that the claims are, again, utter bs are very similar to those given in bullet point number 2 - in short, Nvidia and game developer risk knocks in industry reputation and mid-long term profitability and game developer would pee off around 40% of their PC market leading to decreased profitability all around (short-long term).
  • Also we must pay heed to the words given by current Nvidia employees who have publicly tweeted about this whole hideous façade, in which they say that they have never told any of their staff to gimp performance on AMD cards and so nothing of this sort has actually ever happened; and we have no reason to disbelieve them.
  • Alas, of course the anti-Nvidia crowd claim that we must not trust a word that Nvidia employees say however it is fine to go along with the claims of AMD employees and their pet backers in the online media industry. And, thus, this whole debacle (even though it is based on utter nonsense) goes on and on.
  • Regular. As. Clockwork.

We need one of those curved screens in widescreen. That would have me switching from 4K which I love. I am also watching the news for G-Sync and Freesync, as both have my interest and if my screen is updateable to freesync and nVidia don't go that way, I could well be looking at AMD for my next purchases.

A curved 21:9 Freesync 3440x1440 is just the icing on the cake really.
But I find 2560x1060 vastly superior to 16:9, I could have a 4K monitor had I really wanted, but meh.

I want an Asus 3440x1440 too, I don't mind spending the extra either.

I'm personally still waiting for the ROG Swift, if the price is reasonable and user reviews are good then that monitor will tick all the boxes for me :)

I would have one had they released when they said but delays and more delays and 4K becoming affordable had me hooked. No regrets with buying the 4K at all but always that bit in the back of my head saying (should have gone G-Sync, should have gone LG ultra wide)

Meh to the voices :D

Acer... 4K... Gsync

will wait to see one first, but may very well find the Samsung goes in a few months time :D

NVidia are the good guys if you are a customer, like all of the reputable brands/manufacturers that people pay higher than average prices for they do everything they can to improve their customers experience.

The thing that gets me about the AMD fanboys is that they never criticise AMD for the many areas where they are severely lacking (primarily after you have purchased the card/software side), it's always in some way NVidia's fault for preventing AMD from properly supporting their customers and as a result AMD are never under any pressure to improve, so they don't.

With Nvidia's working so close with Ubisoft together, shouldn't have Ubisoft sorted themselves out by now after so many buggy releases?

Nobody knows what has gone on at Ubisoft with Watch Dogs but as an NVidia customer I am confident that they will be working behind the scenes to improve matters, which AMD absolutely won't be.
