I am working in Manchester, away from my family in Jakarta. I want to call my daughter more often but Skype is getting on my nerves lately. If you guys can suggest me anything better than that, I'll really appreciate it
 
Someone stole my mobile and placed about £500 worth of calls to Indonesia a couple of years ago. Seemed to work well for them.

I think op skype is the best option, you say its not working could it be a dodgy internet connection your end or your daughters connection?
Have you tried uninstalling and re installing it? :)

lol this is an exact quote with 99.9% of tech problems I fix every day :D.
you can also make sure windows is/ you are not downloading anything/ buffering videos for later while skype is running. When on a slow connection (if you are) every little bit helps.
 
I've never had much luck with UK-Asia skype calls. I suspect most of the problem is the internet at the tropical end but whatever the cause, the effect is infuriating. I've had much better luck with Facetime. Maybe Apple has installed better, faster, stronger servers, as its far more reliable.

You only need a current gen iPod touch to use it.
 
How exactly is Skype getting on your nerves? Most of the times people complain about Skype it's usually because of the Internet connection not the software itself. So you may wanna check your Wifi first.

I'm glad this was entitled "The thread for people to call Indonesia"
I was getting confused with all those lesser threads and didn't know which one to post in.

Could someone point me at the official badger juggling thread, I'm not sure I've got the right one.

Hm... This thread's title showed up in the address bar when I was typing overclockers.co.uk so apparently I have been here before, just never left any comment in it. Anyway~ how exactly is Skype getting on your nerves? Most of the times people complain about Skype it's usually because of the Internet connection not the software itself. So you may wanna check your Wifi first.
 
If you wanna call more often, my suggestion is to break free from a computer and just use smartphone apps instead. More expensive, but much more flexbility. After 4 years studying abroad, besides Skype and Viber I do know a few other app like Smartvoip and Global Call. Smartvoip is good, but a bit pricey. It has some discounts too but you have to buy at least 10 euros in advance in order to receive those bonuses. Global Call has an ok calling quality, a bit cheaper than smartvoip. Its payment methods are very flexible though. No need to go all the way downtown to buy charging coupons. Its discount requires only 5 dolllars, buy 5 get 5.
