A few excellent rounds this evening, particularly my last with Crispy, Stulid and Chippy. It's safe to say Crispy and I make a pretty formidable tank duo. :)

4770K + gigabyte z87x-OC coming this Saturday. Will be on all day testing that out :D

Hey big spender! Nice setup you will have there Joe! The same setup as I'm looking at getting.

Not sure what happened last night guys, temps went through the roof at idle and then went I did get it back working it blue screened. Think I will reapply the TIM again tomorrow and get the pump to see if there are any issues, did say to the wife that I "might"have to upgrade earlier than expected. Lol

Nice setup joe! :D

And that monitor does look damn nice  My RMA LG one arrived yesterday but still has poor back light bleed so going to contact LG about repairing it instead.

Really need a new GPU but don't have a clue what to do! Finger hovering over the buy button for that MSI 290 atm but.... I want to give nvidia a try this time :(

Like we said last night buddy, if you have a higher resolution monitor it's better to sit it out until you have a few more quid to spend and buy a GPU that will compliment your monitor with ease. Buying an average GPU seems a bit like shooting yourself in the foot in my opinion.

Definitely wait the extra month or two and buy a cheap 780/Ti.

And indeed - we were epic tank noobs. Excellent team play from Crispy, was great fun!

Going to be a 780 if you are looking at a 290. Tough decision, but you know where I stand.

Just remembered as I buggered off to bed about 00:30, I left Stulid on TS raging to high heaven - was super funny. So glad I don't let this game get to me.

That is largely why I am thinking of going with the MSI 290 atm, it seems to cope with 2560x1600 pretty well and my monitor is only 2560x1080 so would get slightly higher FPS than what the benchmarks show for 2560x1600 plus it comes with 4GB VRAM so should be future proof for the next year or two.

TBH, there isn't really any specific reason for me wanting to switch nvidia except that the new batman game will run better on nvidia cards :p I think mantle will be more beneficial to me since my CPU is pretty weak (i5 750 oc to 3.8GHz), although I do plan on upgrading CPU and mobo around winter time.....

The good thing with AMD is getting three games so I could sell those on the MM for about £8-10 each so the card will only cost me about £280 (taking into account the delivery price as well)

Damn it, wish I stayed on a bit later now! :D

nice looking screen for sure, would have to see one in motion in person to see if it's really worth the huge price tag. I've never actually seen a 120hz or 144hz panel in the flesh, but looking at the video and watching the movement, I'm completely meh over Gsync. Now, if thats because I'm watching through my monitor then I get it, but to me, it looked no different in motion to my screen.

You would really need to see it with your own eyes, I also have yet to see a 120/144hz screen but would imagine that it would be noticeably smoother over 60Hz monitors, personally I am happy enough with 60Hz though and don't feel that I am at a disadvantage in MP games.

While I love my 7950s Nex and you all know this, I'm no fanboy that's for sure. I would say now is not a good time to buy a new one. Wait 6 months, wait until the Maxwells are close to surfacing, then we'll see big price drops on the current cards I reckon.

If your really keen on buying something now and you want to go green, whatever you do, don't go lower than 3GB VRAM. Try to get something that you can add to at a later date, maybe a 6GB 780GTX would be nice now, then when the 8 series come out, I'm guessing the 6GB 780 GTX will drop £100 or so and then get another. 6GB 780 GTX in SLI will give you a nice edge ;)

That is another option Tony but 6 months is quite a wait, lots of games coming out between now and then :(

I was thinking about dual GPU setup but don't really want to go down that road (heat, noise, power consumption and some games not working that well with the setup [at least on release])

I do think these "next gen" titles are going to be pretty damn demanding though, graphics for them on the ps4/xbone just look insane!

I think your views on SLI/Crossfire are a bit outdated.

There's not a single bit of noise or heat difference for me since putting my second 770 back in. Power consumption isn't an issue unless you're on a poverty meter or have a low wattage PSU.

You can disable SLI with the flick of a button in the settings, it's easy. You could argue that games don't work well full stop when they're first released - look at Watchdogs...
