Classic old school games worth playing?

90s games are only still mentioned because of the nostalgia factor. In reality, if the same game is released today (same graphics and everything) nobody will play it.

Disagree. Some games are timeless classics. As for graphics looking dated it depends on the art style, if they were going for realism in the 90s then yeah it doesn't look great by todays standards, but if they weren't then a lot of them still look good today.

Off the top of my head this game came out a few years before you were born in 1991, the graphics are still visually pleasing and gameplay wise, few have managed to match it. A Link to the Past.

I had to check a Youtube video for the hospital level on Soldier Of Fortune II this morning after seeing it mentioned. I remember it as the first time I had an automatic shotgun in an FPS (USAS-12). I LOVED IT. Ha ha ha

I have recently played Far Cry, and I think it stands up pretty well for its age. Fun.
Any of the civilization games - civ 4 would be a good place to jump in
Likewise with total war, they are all great. Medieval II and Rome I are my personal favourites.

Right, Pokemon type games (because that is what I associate that graphic style too I think that is Zelda though?) aren't too bad I guess. It's kind of their style to have pixelled graphics I feel. Anything else will just look weird.

The game I played was Mercenaries 2. It looked horrible lol.

I remember playing old PS2 games, and yes they were much harder and much longer. It's something that has been lost in today's games, I can give you that, but I feel games today have sort of expanded, taken it further.

When I said terrible graphics, I was thinking something on the lines of 007 Goldeneye on the N64 and quake 1. Old FPS games (like the OP mentioned) really look bad. CS 1.6 is terrible imo, or rather, looks terrible.

Yes, Deus Ex. One game not superceded by its sequels, despite their fancier graphics etc. It was brilliant.

Just finished Doom 3 , BFG , fantastic shoot em up with loads of ammo weapons and a bit scary,but not bad,oh and big boss fights which arent to hard to beat!!!
