New Monitor

What do you do? Games or movies and stuff?

Thanks for the reply!

Normally games but I watch movies aswell but would probably go for a monitor suited to gaming although I do have a blu ray drive also! Not sure if that could affect my choice!

Well for gaming AOC have a 144Hz screen that has a kick ass stand (tilt, swivel, height etc) I've been using one my self now for a number of months and love it, one downside is you have to use dual link DVI to get the 144Hz option, Displayport doesnt work at 144Hz.

It has built-in speakers which are..well there and work but nothing spectacular.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AOC G2460PQU 24" Widescreen 144Hz 1ms Gaming LED Monitor - Gunmetal £179.99
Total : £189.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

At £180 it represents great value for money I think.

I would really consider this monitor, going to do some research but thanks a lot for bringing to my attention.

Thanks for the advice, it looks like a nice monitor but the extra extra widescreen isnt for me.

No problem, you also mentioned a bit of video playback and once you sort out the settings and turn the icare off, its fine for that.

You mention about the display port not working at 144hz, I will be using a HDMI connection is this going to be a problem?

You would hate my set up 3 alienware 23inch
What kind of games do u play

That just sounds mad!! I mostly play total war games, what about yourself?

What is the icare I have never heard of that?

icare is some auto brightness thing, theres a sensor on the bezel that adjusts the screen to ambient light.

HDMI is no good, has to be duallinkDVI for 144HZ.

Ok thanks for letting me know me know! I will need to do a bit of research on that! This might be a stupid question but I take it my 780gtx would support this?

So I have been doing a bit of research. The dual dvi link seems straightforward enough although it wont support sound but being honest im not expecting much from in built speakers so I would just have to get 3.5 to 3.5 cable to wire that up, no big deal.

I came accross this one

Im not sure how much more I will get from the AOC monitor (which is £80 more expensive). No doubt it will be a better monitor but worth £80 more? It what type of application's would I really see the difference or would it just be better allround? If anyone could help with this that would be great.

And isnt this monitor just the but without the usb?

Decided on the G2460FQ ,it looks like the picture is wrong on the website if you look at the image i have uploaded (sorry phone pic) its different . no duallinkDVI supplied just an hdmi and a vga cable .

ive got a standard dvi cable off my old monitor so will just use that until i can get duallinkDVI . can anyone else see the difference in picture or am i being a complete numpty ?

It looks really neat!! The color seems different from the website picture granted. Is this what you are talking about?

I have decided I'm going for this one myself, helped by the fact £15 has been knocked off it.

Monitor arrived today, I'm very happy with it. Thanks to all who helped and thanks to overclockers for the great service as usual!!!
