My bad i typo'ed, i meant the 1jz. I had the 4.0 for a while but allways wished i had the TT

Yeah the 1UZ V8 swap is popular with non turbo supras. Just under 300BHP aren't they?

Yea it would be a proper windows out spray job, i was thinking about doing it myself but haven't got a clean room i can use at the moment. My cars in perfect working order mechanically apart from the ariel being stuck up so the reason i was thinking about a total change of colour was that it would be like getting a totally new car.
Anyone seen matt black on a Supra? im not sure how hard matt paint is to look after

I am also 27 with 3 points (I think they expire this year) and 1 total loss claim, and a standard supra is £2k, a modified single turbo etc is £3.5k.According to your profile you're 27.
When I turn 21 in october a UK TT is £850 with 3 years NCB and a not at all insurance friendly TS10.
With 6 extra years it can't be that bad, lest you live in baghdad
I really respect the Supra. Wanted one since I was 16 BUT I would need at least £50k to buy and modify it to the spec I wanted.
And for £50k you are talking about a hell of a lot of more modern car for the money. Considering you can buy an R35 for £40k or less that leaves £10k to tune it, I think the Supra is now just too old and past it to be worth it anymore. Buy a supra for £15k and spend £35k on mods and it is still worth £15k. Do the same with a GTR and it is still worth £40k.
I would do it with a lottery win but not with money I have worked hard for.
I believe they just weren't British enough and far to flashy and carried no prestige for the time, also it came about when Cosworth was king. Not forgetting Japanese cars carried a stigma of being the old man's choice.
Personally i think they look great but there's no escaping that interior! just what were the Japs thinking!?
I think it's more the case that they were £40,000 when new in the early 90's.
An Escort Cosworth was £25,000.
You could also buy a brand new Porsche for less than 30k, in 1993, so it's no surprise it didn't sell.
It's a big ungainly car as well.
Think the celica didn't sell that well either compared to the escort but was arguably better in some ways. It's dem Essex Barry boys.
Celica was a nice car.

50K
really. Are you building a drag car?
No. But I would want something that would anhiallate most cars on the road.
At least an T51R.
This is why a GTR is a better idea if you can afford it.
Things add up. Wheels, brakes, coilovers, other suspension, tyres, exhaust, engine, mapping etc.
Looking at the above list of what is required to run big power I don't even think I could be bothered to do it anymore!
Supras are a modern day classic and only going up in value at the moment, well for decent ones anyway as most have been wrapped around trees
Clutch wear, 4wd booo, weighs like 17ton. Digital with less involvement.
