Honey wine (Mead)

I've had some of the Lindisfarne Mead a few times which is pretty nice, but it is made with grapes too so isn't all honey like most of them.

Not sure what the other brands are like, have mostly had it at events and stuff.

Moniack Mead is a nice one and made from honey. Can't personally recommend where to buy it online as it's sold locally here in the shops so I've never needed to get it online.

Depends on many things...

Do you want honey wine, or do you want actual mead?

The wine tends to be made from grapes and has a faint honey flavour (with a myriad varying degrees).
Mead is far stronger in honey flavour, made purely from honey and again has a myriad types and levels of flavours, depending on the honey used.

I personally use Lurgashall, Lyme Bay and Drunken Monk as my lazy, go-to options. Google and order online.

Moniak can be ordered direct, but it is SERIOUSLY thick, heavy, sickly-sweet stuff perhaps best served in small quantities as a dessert accompaniment.

If you want several degrees of awesomeness, search for Viking Blod and other products from Dansk Mjød - Half their stuff is fortified and can really knock your socks off!!
I don't exactly drink, as a general rule but I once put three bottles of Blod down in one evening, all to myself... THAT was a good time!! :D

What did you make? i'v got 10L of joam and 5L of a welches grape and honey.

I had one bottle joam after about 4 months, then one after about 8months, was really hot, i'm hoping the alcohol hotness has mellowed, might try one this weekend.

Everything I read about homebrew mead is make it and forget about it and it should age well haha.

There's loads off different types.
There ones which need aging like wine, there's more beer style brews and ones in the middle that are good after two months. That's before you get to fruit and/or spiced ones.

yeah my grape on can be drunk earlier, people say to age joam well though.

You got a good recipe for beer level alcohol %? My two are wine level.

No, I've been trying to find some but all the recipes are wrong compared to the description. And are mostly identical to each other. I'm thinking I may well have to buy a mead book.

Seems beer style mead is called Small Mead. But the few recipes I can find aren't that.
