Nobody seems to have mentioned this yet, so seeing this is Samsung's new tablet flagship I thought it a good idea to start a thread.

To me this looks like a slight upgrade to the already existing Samsung Galaxy Pro 8.4

2560x1600(WQXGA) Super AMOLED 359ppi
3GB RAM, 16/32GB Memory,
MicroSD (up to 128GB)
7,900mAh
Android 4.4 (Kitkat)
Exynos 5 Octa processor, which pairs four 1.9GHz cores with four 1.3GHz cores

price is rumored at £349

On sale from the 4th July apparently

Wifi is Octa crud only. And 1600p needs the best SoC it can get... a la 805.

Ooh, my bad, I was sure I'd read somewhere that all the UK models would be S800 SoC based.

The 805 isn't available yet though, so that one's out, but still would have preferred the 800 over the Exynos.

On Thursday 12th June I was lucky to have a go of both the 10.5 and 8.4 Tab S and what I notice was the screen quality was fantastic. The build was solid and had a premium feel to it, while performance wise they were quick and nippy.

Samsung held a behind the door press briefing where I work in Canary Wharf as The Shard in London wanted to charge them £50 grand, so as Samsung are clients we done it for free.

This could be the Samsung tablet we've all been waiting for.

UK preorder price looks like £419.99 for the 10.5" 16gb where as the USA one is $549 for 10.5" 32gb. That's a massive difference, ~£323 for full spec in US unless i'm missing something - in which case I will grab one when I'm over there in July :D

My LG Gpad 8.3 GPE is getting awfully sluggish and the battery life is crap, so I just pulled the trigger on one of these - the WIFI version. Am looking forward to checking it out so I don't have to put up with my Gpad any more.

I am glad you said this as I was looking into the G pad as an alternative to this or the Pro.

On the subject of the Pro it seems that weirdly they haven't really reduced its price.

I imagine they are going to simply phase Pro out, but it seems strange.

With Google holding out on the Nexus 10 for what seems like ages. Samsung might be snatching my money with this to replace my Gen 1 Nexus 7!

As long as the price is right :)

I had trouble deciding on the 8.4 or 10.5, eventually pre-ordered the larger one but have just cancelled. I going to wait a bit to see if the current leaked specs on a Google 8.9" tablet do materialise: An 8.9" 4:3 tablet just seems right for me.

Totally forgot about that. July release for sure.
If the specs are true that may be the one to get :D

I just can't make my mind up..

My Note 3 (Snapdragon 800 + 3GB RAM) seems responsive enough and I can live with touchwiz, but every Exynos 5 Octa 5420 samsung tablet I've tried has been a bit glitchy at times, odd freezes and other stuff that just makes it feel not quite right, I had a Note 10.1 2014 edition for a few hours and it bugged me no end how it kept pausing and stuttering too frequently..

So are there any indications that the new Tab S range will be any better? I've seen early hands-on reviews that do mention the stuttering and lack of complete smoothness.

I got to try both the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4 models in the Samsung Experience store in London.

I've previously had the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (amazing tablet back in the day) and I bought the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 when it first came out but returned it due to stuck pixels in the middle of the screen. The screen on the Pro 8.4 was a bit let down after having experienced the AMOLED on the Tab 7.7. The screen on the Galaxy Tab S is fantastic, the colours really 'pop' and the S 8.4 model is much nicer to hold in one hand than the Pro 8.4 was (thinner side bezels).

Both Tab S models seemed pretty snappy and I believe both were the WiFi model, so with the Exynos processor.

I've gone ahead and pre-ordered the 8.4 model as I prefer the size, should be available to pick-up tomorrow (Thursday).

I have had one for a couple of weeks now, and its a really nice model compared to the note 10.1 I have at home.
Feels much snappier, the design is much nicer, and the thin feel is really impressive :D

Picked my Tab S 8.4 up yesterday, it's really nice, especially the screen. Battery life (screen-on time) when browsing the web doesn't seem too strong, this is probably due to mainly white backgrounds on sites.
