Do i have enough power captin

Do i have enough power to add a second 280x to my rig(in sig)
if i don't i will not replace my PSU as its only 3 to 4 weeks old. i would rather run a seconds low watt PSU to power the second card and about 10cathodes

what would be my power needs if i have to get a second psu.

If it's a decent brand you should be fine IMO. Personally never heard of that brand so I'd wait for a second opinion.

The 280x's use about 250W per card so you would be left with about 200W

By Strider E do you mean the Essential or Evolution series? If it's the Evolutions series you will be fine. If it's the Essential series they are budget rubbish that until recently couldn't deliver anywhere near their stated outputs on the all important 12v rail. The 700w version could only deliver a shocking 552w on the 12v rail which is absolutely pathetic for a modern psu. They have recently been updated though and there are now two "700w" Strider Essential models. One has 630w on the 12v rail and the other has 672w. The troubling thing is that all three models are still for sale until existing stocks of the old one run out so you could have either of them. What is the actual part number for your psu?

Tweaktown did a review of your card in crossfire and the whole pc pulled a total of 562w. Taking that into consideration if you have a Essential series I wouldn't be happy running a pair of those cards unless you have the version that can deliver 672w.

I wouldn't be happy running them on that one then. With the cheap internals it could get really toasty and noisey inside. It's a Sirtec unit with 52.5A on the 12v rail. Personally I would just buy a decent 700-750w psu and sell that one.

It's not 700w though. It's a really budget model and depending on what version he has it could only have 552w on the 12v rail.

No, best idea would be to buy something along the lines of the Superflower Golden Green HX750w or EVGA Supernova G2 750w and sell the Silverstone.

Edit: that said i have just seen the price of the Superflower and it not too bad

The bay would be your best bet. Gumtree might be worth a shot too.

The Superflower is a very good unit. The EVGA is even better as it's based on Superflowers Leadex Gold series, is fully modular and has a whopping 10 year warranty. Well worth the extra tenner.

yep could not agree more, i was thinking i would be looking at something around £150+, i had not looked though if i am honest
