Stripped out and tuned up Megane 275 Trophy-R smashes front-wheel drive 'ring record

I remember this boring time in my old megane tussling with a csl and 4s on the nurburgring, practically fell asleep afterwards.

That drive to morrisons in my GT86 however, prolapses galore.

far from it being a FWD vs RWD debate, I think the video being 'boring to watch' is a testament to Renaults achievement here. It shows a well set up car that highlights predictability at speed being a key element of its success.

my raising of this topic and focus of discussion was rather about the relevance of a limited production run vehicle being able to take a record. should it only be for standard cars?

I think Sin Chase put it well by saying, what if the new CTR could have £10k worth of factory extras that makes it comparable to the Renaultsport Megane 275 Trophy R Nurburgring Pack.

My guess is that it may do, the £10k would be more like £20k and the word Mugen may be involved.

Thats becauses it's RWD mate, not this boring FWD stuff.

I'm kidding obviously.

I'm up for that.

£36 grand, 2 seats, no climate control and even more money if you want to actually have the car that set that time. Then after all that it's still FWD.

Why not just buy something fast if you want something fast!

Wow! Seriously how can you make FWD a negative?

OH MY GOD its FWD - arent most cars these days (are most people who are slating FWD cars driving RWD ? )
OH MY GOD its got expensive extras - havent most cars these days
OH MY GOD its a limited edition run - Dont most manafacturers do that these days
Why **** off such an impressive achievment. No way is this type of performance something to throw such negativity at. Its an impressive achievment for sure
just compare with these

Look at the company this car puts itself in is it such a bad thing to push the FWD hot hatch boundaries this far ?
I dont really think so

All this negativity about being a pointless product... Isn't Sin Chase the guy who bought an S2000 to drive on an island with a blanket 30/40 limit? :p

Yeah. Hence the massive irony cake with irony icing topped off with an ironic cherry. For good measure there is some hypocrite sprinkles.

All kept cold in a smeg fridge

I always do a double take when I see the old shape megane sport. It's such a pretty car.

Not a huge fan of the new one myself.

So a stripped out, impractical, semi track-prepped hatchback goes round the Nurburgring faster than a standard one? What a surprise.

With such astute observations I believe I am conversing with a future captain of industry. Certainly isn't impractical though.
