I use a mixture of settings not only so I can hold 125fps capped solid (except in leveloution) but also to get the clearest view - full ultra for instance darkens building interiors more (partly due to ambient occlusion) than other settings when looking into them from outside.

880 has been rumoured as 8GB but only 256bit bus...

Two 3GB 780s would drive his sexy new monitor for at least two years. BF4 maxed out at 2560x never goes above 2.2GB VRAM for me, so unless he's driving three of those LGs, I wouldn't wait for 6GB cards

It's going to be the 680 all over again - which as it turned out was a cracking card. Very cool and quiet and overclocked like a demon. Ended up having two in SLI and they ran BF3 @ 2560x1600 nicely :)
 
Ok, after quite a bit of a gaming session there, surprisingly my GPU didn't go past 85 degrees (with two monitors connected), guess the fan must just work a bit harder to keep it at that temp!

Think I am just going to keep this 290, can't really be assed with the faff of sending it back etc. :p

Hopefully 2x120mm fans at the top and a cooler running CPU will drop the GPU temp to 80 degrees @load......

You could also try undervolting the GPU. Getting better airflow/cable management will also help. Failing all of that you could reapply the heatsink although this will void warranty (something I've clearly had to do for all my builds).
 
I cannot get this to start any more. All I get is a slow motion loading screen and then the game crashes to desktop. I have re-installed but still the same ?

Any ideas ?

Yeah Battlelog opens fine and it goes to load into a game but when BF4 opens it's all in slow motion then it crashes with a "Battlefield 4 has stopped responding" message.

Just tried different AMD drivers but still the same ?

Might try that!

Yeah, my cable management could be better, bit of a mess around the sata ports (got 5 drives, did have 6 but removed one yesterday). When I get new CPU and mobo, I'll try to do a better job.

Yup, no way I am doing that! :p :eek:

No idea, might be an Origin problem if it only gets that far.
 
I have now tried different drivers, Re-install of BF4, DX & Punkbuster.....

Still the same issue that when the game starts it all runs in super slow motion then crashes to desktop.

I tried using the EA online help but all it could offer me was a link to the online manual ?

It was working fine 2 days ago ??
