Dead Rising 3 £44.84

GTA 5 £39.99-£44.84

Rise Of The Tomb Raider £39.99

Lara Croft & The Temple Of Osiris £39.99 (eye opening price as it uses the Temple Of Light game engine not exactly a full price title!)

Just wondering if the major publishers are using the excuse that XB1/PS4 ports on pc should be a similar price to reflect the amount of work that went into it as all of these will also no doubt come with DLC inflating the price further unless you want to wait for digital sales etc etc

These are PC Retail RRP I shudder to think what the Steam price would be once you add Valve tax

Yep, look at Battlefield: Hardline. Basically looks like a BF4 DLC being released as a "full" game. £50 / €60 on Origin, and £60 / €70 for Digital Deluxe.

I would say it is due to the XB1/PS4 games. They are all being sold at release for about €70. Complete rip off, but people are paying it. And once people are paying it they can keep selling them at that price.

Luckily for PC gamers we can at least get deals (like this GTA V for £26)

Thing is most pc gamers know to go through CD KEY sites now days, the savings to be had are immense. ever since BF4 came out people have been very careful about pre-orders and buying through origin for their extreme pricing

seems like its been on a slow increase for a while now, sadly it cannot b helped with people still buying titles at these obesely bloated prices. Still steam sales etc are always welcomed to fix this issue.

Dunno about prices going up - generally your AAAs will always be ridiculous at release time. Give it 6 months and prices drop as the next crop of AAAs are released. Even Steam RRP for new games is pretty dear imo.

RRPs have always been pretty high, I remember when thief came out that was rrp £39.99 within a week you could get it for £13.99
Shopping around like that GTA deal really really pays off, Ive had titanfall, bf3,bf4,watch dogs south park and many others on day of release/preload for less than 50% of RRP.

If you cant find a decent deal as a PC gamer, you shouldn't be one in the first place.

People don't get shafted, they shaft themselves, so its really up to the silly folk to not find cheaper games.

^ This, I suckered myself into pre-ordering Thief because I'm such a big fan of the series. Seeing it go as low as £10 last week hurt a bit. :p AAA titles will always have high prices at release, either find a deal on a key site or wait for a sale :)

(I say this but there's still a high chance of me grabbing GTAV at full price if I don't find a deal on a reputable site)

Does seem like they are trying to sync up PC prices to match console ones, cant blame them for trying but as others have said... we know better than to pay these prices :)

in my opinion it's down to the console games.

I mean..... seriously look at how much some of those titles cost, e.g. nindendo DS and such games..... new £30+ for crummy graphics, usually a rehash of some franchise and a tiny plastic cartridge :p then ofc you have PS and Xbox slapping an even higher cost than that.... at least you can trade those games in though and get you know.... like 50p back xD or after a week just take the game back.... or even rent it for a fiva for the weekend and just rinse through the game. closest thing we get as pc gamers is just download the game and then if you enjoyed be a good guy and buy the game out right.

we don't get any demos anymore (barely... or paid in ******* pre-alpha/alpha/closed/open-beta). ok the free beta can let you try before you buy to make more of an educated decision but with bf4.... the alpha/beta were great.... game gets released... everything is ******!!!! I was happy with my purchase during the beta but damn... how did they screw it up so bad!!!! like now..... hardline is out and well.....it's the closest thing to a demo we have..... but still subject to change heavily, so they can get away with anything.

we are lucky with the likes of steam sales, humble bundles and cheap key sites. but it's still insane how much they are up front. the most mind boggling are the COD games.... full price ever game.... yet just some new textures and a different story... and that's all that's changed :p but check the COD games on steam... last time I checked they were all still pretty damn expensive... for something that used to be repackaged as "gold" or what ever in the bargain box, you know the ones.... where it came in a cardboard sleeved box, with a pic of the box art taking up a smaller section in the middle of the cover and just surrounded by white/whatever with the orange line going around the box xD

not to mention that all these other games now with their "buy in" to alphas.....what if they never actually finish the game? free money? would they refund everyone? :p

I still also hate damn monthly subs.... I remember BACK IN THE DAY when Ultima online was £2.49 a month to sub!!!! and they only had a few hundred thousand subs... but then had to increase their sub cost to keep alive. where as every over game just goes straight out to the BOOM £9.99/8.99 mark after charging £30 for the game too. with my UO sub I bought the game for £5!!!!!!! granted later expansions were a bit dearer but that's probably because they knew their community base and were realistic in what they needed to keep things ticking over. shame it's not the same as it used to be :(

basically...... every company has cranked up the capitalist dial and are more worried about their quota and share holders turning giant profits that they promised for a game that is sub par, rushed and ultimately not going to be around long enough for them to really car all that much as they have already planned out the next few cash cows :p

In 1996 Tomb Raider was £44.99 on PS1.

In 2014 people expect a game, which costs >10x more to make these days to sell for less? I realise the development cost is justified by a wider gaming audience these days (more people buy games!) but still they are very good value for money.

I am 26 years old and love gaming, but do it far less than I used to.
I need to play GTA5, but have not even bought it yet. A mint copy from MM should be £20 on PS3 :).

Most of that cost is due to pointless overhead, but publishing/development giants will try to the death to make sure their grip is firm and all that staff is needed to pump a game out every season.

mate, its all dem nex gen graffiks innit? like cod ghosts looks so good on xbone coz dey got 10x da power of a pc dese days
