ive not had another Tetanus jab done since about 1993, should i get a booster topup?, do you guys take this stuff seriously or ignore it?

The lack of online system for tracking your medical history or reminding you when boosters are due means I generally don't give it a second thought. I just don't know what I've had and when and the only way to make sure it's right is to get every jab and start tracking the time myself.

The last time I tore myself open on rusty wire and enquired about a tetanus jab the doctor told me I was fully protected for life as I'd had enough over the years.

Can't remember when I had my last one.

This, so it can't be in the last decade and I'm forever cutting myself in less than clean environments.

Ah you don't need it every 10 years,.

A vaccination to protect against tetanus is given as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme.

The full course of the tetanus vaccination consists of five doses. The first three doses are given in the 5-in-1 vaccine for babies at two, three and four months of age.

This is followed by a booster of tetanus vaccine in the 4-in-1 pre-school booster jab which is given around four years of age.

And a final booster against tetanus is given to children betweeen 13 and 18 years of age as part of the 3-in-1 teenager booster.

After the full course of five injections, you should have lifelong immunity against tetanus. However, if you or your child has a deep wound, it's best to get medical advice.

If you are not sure whether you've had the full course, for example because you were born in another country, contact your GP for advice.

So should be immune.

As far as I know you don't need boosters once you finished the first 4(?). I managed to get localised tetanus just before my final booster haha. About 3 months prior to the final vaccination I stepped on a piece of metal playing football went through my foot. My leg started aching a few days later went to docs and then straight to a&e.

4 months of crutches/muscle relaxants/antibiotics and some other jab I can't remember what it was. Daily injections is not fun :(

Just slight over 10 years since my last, although if you work in the animal industry you do need them updated regularly as prone to bites and what not.

No, though really should given the industry I work in... No idea if i'm already immune or not having had a course of them years ago...
