Protecting Cables from CATS!!

Have issue with my cats chewing through iphone chargers, usb leads and looking to see if anyone has any tip from adding protection to cables. I know the main tip is not to leave them out but things like my nest thermosat which has a usb lead to power it needs to be left out.

Any one have any tips or now anything that can cover the cables. Was thinking of some sort of hard plastic covering.

To be honest they're probably doing it out of boredom. Do they have any toys to play with/do you play with them? Give them something to do and they'll probably leave your cables alone.

Cable tidy from pound shop or fle bay, think old school curly phone wire made from plastic spray some lemon on or other citrus they cats should stay away and even if they don't it's plastic

Some breeds of cat are just destructive/meddlesome. Bengals for example! Mine eats the carpet, my best mate has one that eats the black foam out of his UPVC window frames.

Those citrus sprays are reasonably effective.

Drop some chilli powder on the cables or pepper. You can also buy a spray that you put in the garden to keep cats away but you could try some of that sprayed on the cables? You can get it from homebase.

I found this stuff on Amazon called critter cable. Looks like a plastic tube with the smell of lemon!

Some plastic trunking? Depends if you need the cable to be accessible or if it's a permanent fixture?

My kitten chewed through the cables for my surround speakers which were tucked out of sight behind the sofa, we ended up just putting everything in trunking. Little sod!

Chilli extract could work just need to get it hot enough to put them off but not so hot they get ill and puke/poo everywhere lol

Never seen a house cat that wasn't bored out of it's skull with associated problems and basic timidity. Even if someone gave me an i7 I'd get bored of playing WoT eventually.

Make an outdoor play pen, better than nothing.

They might grow out of it. My Savannahs ate chewed through a few iPhone cables, but haven't done it for a while now.

Trunking or plastic cable tidies stops our Maine **** from munching too many cables. We also have a charging box (basically a four way adaptor in a plastic lidded box that phones etc get charged in.

Probably wont work on a phone charger but our cats like the lead for the iron, which is fabric coated, so I soaked it in lemon juice and then let it dry out, doesn't smell unpleasent to people but the cats don't go near it now.
