anybody had any experience with CryptoPrevent?

I've used CryptopPrevent on some PCs outside of Active Directory domains to try to give some extra protection against users being silly.

Inside a domain, we use Group Policy to define the Software Restriction rules.

Id be intrerested to know about this too for my Dad as he thinks he is an expert and literally brings his laptop to a halt almost on a weekly basis! Stopping short of cutting his fingers off a solution like this may be useful!

I'm trying to prevent my sister from opening any kind of. Zip that isn't recognized in the office. Problem is she gets legitimate zip files from emails every day and I'm thinking its only a matter of time before she opens a cryptovirus.

She needs a better email provider/mail filtering. Any decent system will block .exe & .zip with .exe inside by default.

She runs a company in which she receives sensitive clients details by zip from councils etc. Sorry, just read your post again. You meant .exe zips.

We do this as well :)

Only issue we've come across are programs that want to extract to the Temp directory like print drivers but that's an easy fix.
