Hi guys,

I've had my current build (see sig) for just over a year now and I'm considering changing the case fans in my 600T.

Currently only have the front and top 200mm fans installed (got the h80i & 2 Noctua NF-f12s attached to the back) and while they're installed into the integrated fan controller, they're by far the noisiest part of my rig. Personally I don't like the leds on them either, so I'm considering changing them out for something else.

I've found case temps to be quite good, even while I have my fan controller set to about 20%. Ideally I'm looking to either maintain performance but decrease noise levels, or maintain noise but increase performance.

Anybody have any suggestions for fans? Naturally the Noctua 200mm fans are definitely worth looking into for me, really happy with my NF-f12s.

I have heard however, that the 600t doesn't have standard mounting points for the 200mm fans, and people have had to slightly mod their cases to install new (read: thicker) fans. Is this true? And if so, how easy / hassle free, is it to mod the case so I can install new fans?

I had the same problem but in the end decided not to mod my case and just stuck with them. You can find a number of guides for modding the case though, going from memory I found plenty of 200 x 40 but you need 200 x 20, which no1 else seems to do.

Good luck with it

I had the Bitfenix Spectre PRO 200mm fan in the front without any modification, but the fan needed modding for the top but does fit and also reduces the noise quite a bit :)

To be honest, this is a pretty large oversight by Corsair when designing this case really. It's a brilliant case, but not being able to easily replace / install aftermarket fans is a turnoff! :(

I'll have a look at the guides and decide if I can be bothered to risk damaging anything to replace the fans.

As an aside, if I did decide to keep the same fans, is there anyway I can disable the leds? They're a tad annoying!

Even the Spectre Pro is 200x25, so it wouldn't fit would it? I would imagine it would get caught by the drive cage maybe? Being 5mm too thick?

I've only just picked up the 600T myself. It only came with the front 200mm fan and the chap threw in a few standard 120mm fans - it was far too loud.

I replaced the front 200mm fan with the Spectre Pro and I can confirm it fits 100% without any modding. You need to slide the hdd tray forward to fit it in, once in the tray slides back in position and you can then screw the fan in. I much prefer the look of the case from the front with any LED lights.

I also picked up two Corsair AF120 LED White Quiet Edition fans for the top and one for the rear, all exhaust. I was going to get another 200mm Spectre Pro for the top but was advised it would require modding so I decided to just go with two 120's instead.

I've connected all 6 case fans (inc two 140mm fans on my K2) to my fan controller set to the lowest speed and the case is much much quieter. Very pleased with the results, and happy with the case. :)

Good stuff!

Think I might take a plunge on a spectre pro...

(is it possible to get them without leds? I know they're almost always applied to anything marketed to gamers, but, personally, I don't like my computer lighting up like a christmas tree!)

Also, as for the top 200mm fan, I know that you definitely have to mod the case to get an aftermarket to fit. How would the performance / noise compare with 2x Af-120s in the top as opposed to the 200mm fan?

Still not sure whether to swap out my h80i for a h100i, so might end up having my noctua's exhausting through the top vent, but if not, will probably go for two airflow fans from either noctua or corsair.

The spectre pro doesn't have LEDs :) I personally don't mind some lighting inside the case if you have a side window but it doesn't look that great from the front of the case.

I would say a 200mm fan would be slightly quieter then 2x 120mm. I've got no complaints with sound on my case anymore, all 6 fans are connected to a fan controller and are set at the lowest speed and my temps are very reasonable.

I have the Alpenfohn K2 cooler fitted with 2x 140mm fans blowing upwards, and at the top 2x 120mm exhaust fans.
