PlayStation Now - Hands on with IGN. (look at those prices)

$6.99 for 7 days is the sweet spot.

TBH though at those prices you could probably buy it, play it and sell it on within a month for similar to what you paid.

This is obviously more convenient though.

yep ^ as expected

unless they can tie it in with ps plus, like a rental or 2 each month then i cant see the point. seems like a waste of resources to me

That's the only reason I'd use it I think, though this pricing makes me think they're aiming this service more towards hotels.

I remember paying a similar price in america 12 years ago to play a PS1 :o

still have my PS3 so if they dont price this right i would rather go out and buy secondhand game for next to nothing, rather than pay silly money for a few days rental

backwards compatibility is a non issue i don't know why they are bothering tbh. all ps's from now on will be backwards compatible as they have moved to pc architecture.

all that will be needed is a simple emulator. also it wasn't much of a issue last gen where the majority of ps3's weren't fully BC

There is no PS3 emulator for PC yet. Its not that simple if it were we would all be emulating PS3 games on our superior PC's

i'm talking about ps4 games on the ps5, all that will be needed is a simple emulator because the architecture will stay the same now.

nobody cares about ps3 anymore it's all about ps4, those that care about the ps3 can buy or keep a ps3 or buy the many remastered games coming out

I care about PS3. Bought one the other week and its getting way more use than my PS4 which hardly has any games out for it.

I think it is a different era of games now, games are not just about the latest and greatest, PS3 has a deep catalogue of games that people will want to play.

Still see this being more popular in the TVs and other products, Pretty sure this years top end Sony TVs are going to support it. In the future it could be a "feature" for other manufactures and more like a netflix type service.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do that for PS4. When a PS3 game comes out on PS+, PS3 users will be able to download it as normal and PS4 users will have 30 days rental for the same game via PSnow.

In no way is it the sweet spot.

I was hoping they would do it like netflix, you pay a tenner a month and you have the entire library at your disposal, Id sign up to something like that, no interest in paying to hire a game for a few hours or a week at a higher price than you could rent the latest game from blockbuster for a week before it went under.

It is compared to the other options they are offering I mean $4.99 for 4 hours is pointless if for an extra $2 you get 7 days.

It's about £4 to rent a game for 7 days which is not that bad if it's a single player game and you rattle through it.

You don't need to wait for it to be posted out or need to waste time posting it back, etc.

There is no way any company would allow you to play all the games in their catalogue for £120 a year.

Put it this way the average game costs about £40, therefore if you buy more than 2 games a year (which I imagine most people do) then they would never buy a game again but pay £10 a month and have access to every game.

It would need to be £50 a month to offer that kind of service, something nobody apart from those who buy a game every week or two would be willing to pay.

I get what you mean but its still shocking pricing all round if they stick with that. Re the netflix thing, I dont see why not, it wasnt so long ago that people would have said the same about film and tv - its all back catalogue stuff, your not gonna be renting ps4 games for these prices.

£5-10 for every ps1/ps2 game would be reasonable value and a good money revenue for them Id reckon.

Way too much IMO if the prices are any way similar to that.

Needs to be a sub and play whatever you want whenever you want, like Netflix, LoveFilm etc...

Even better if it is tied in to PS+

PSN Plus pretty much gives you a large collection of free games (72 per year). Sony control the full PSN market there is no reason to offer a better deal than they currently do unless MS offer a better service than them.

If you care about ps3 games... Buy a ps3. I had a fat 60gb ps3 for years, I used bc once. Honestly see it as a pointless service.
