EA are worse than ever

I never ever really rant on these forums but I thought I would share my experiences!

I haven't used or played anything affiliated with EA for two years. The last time I did was FIFA 2013 on the PS3. I love the concept of Ultimate Team which for the most part was really fun, especially as I had two mates playing it too. The appalling servers though made the game quite often unplayable and eventually drove me off playing it completely.

I had never used Origin until last week when I got my hands on a free copy of BF3 and so installed them both. I noticed that there was a free FIFA World Beta that you could play which is basically just the Ultimate Team component of FIFA, so, perfect I thought.

After a week of playing FIFA World I am already fed up, the servers are worse than ever and everything takes so long to refresh/load it drives me up the wall. To further add to my pain I have not even been able to use the Web App as it says the servers are down for maintenance, I mean come on seriously a whole week of maintenance. The iPhone app also doesn't work I just a white screen after logging in and the app crashes (I have deleted and re-installed).

The icing on the cake was last night after 3 disconnections in game in a row, I decided to exit the game and fire up BF3 for the first time. I double clicked the game and was told via a pop up site in Internet Explorer that the servers were down due to Punk Buster issues and I couldn't play.

EA are without question the worst games company in the world! Their servers are the worst I have ever used and they never fix the products they release, I am quite frankly disgusted.

Before anyone says that I got the games for free so don't complain, my reply would be the only reason I have given EA a second chance is because they were free. If my experience had been good my faith would have probably been restored and I would have started using EA/Origin again. Ultimate Team makes money through people buying packs, something I have done many times since its inception in 2011 and through to when I finished playing it in 2013 that it why FIFA World is free on PC.

Such a shame as Ultimate Team is such a good concept and has a huge following.

No problems with Battlelog or BF3 here? And you've clearly never used UPlay if you think EA/Origin is bad?

This was yesterday afternoon Australia Eastern time.

And I have put over 80 hours into Anno 2070 which uses UPlay and never had an issue although I have never played online. I have also played Assassins Creed without issue too. That is not to say that I am a fan of UPlay because I really am not.

You cannot honestly tell me that EA servers are good can you? The amount of complaints on the net about them probably make up half of the internet!

And people complain vociferously when things don't go to their liking. In all honesty if you compare Steam at the same age as origin, origin is way more stable. hell I still get occasional disconnects and 'unable to reach the Steam servers' a couple of times a week. That rarely happens in Origin. I can't comment on the situation in Australia though!

Not had an issue with Origin, but not really had one with uPlay, except Watchdogs launch. No issues with GFWL either thinking about it. Steam gives me the most issues but I use it a lot more. Bad luck for you maybe? First Origin issues I've read in a while.

It is not really Origin that is giving me issues, it is the servers that are used to run the games.

Ultimate Team is all server based as everything you do has to be sent to the server and received from the server. BF3 is also a server issue and not Origin.

Origin has been fine for me also.

Origin made it impossible for me to play BF4 until I noticed somebody saying to try Outlaw - which enables you to play your EA games just without Origin running and low and behold BF4 now works perfect.

I've never known every BF3 server to be offline due to a punkbuster issue.

You sure it's not something on your PC causing problems? I presume you were joining an officially sanctioned server?

Just looked through the Battlelog server list and 90% of 64 player servers are looking pretty empty. Like, proper empty.! Strangely, BF3 Stats say they are running normally.

Shhhhhhhhhh your not allowed to bad talk steam it's only EA/orgin. I have to agree that FIFA servers are crap though.

I think Origin is great, never causes me a problem I've had a few bargains off there and it downloads a lot quicker than Steam, I like Steam too though but for stability when Steam was the age as Origin it wasnt as stable as Origin is now from what I remember

never had a problem with origin on the other hand steam goes down all the time and download speeds are worse.

My 'net connection is always maxed out on both, neither is perfect for uptime though

Origin doesn't do anything that I need though other than launch games, it's like Uplay in that sense where as Steam has so many addons and a strong community. I've never used Uplay or Origin to buy a game, it's always cheaper to look elsewhere.

EA on the whole seem to be obsessed with micro transactions for in-game content, more so than even Sony and Station Cash.

Origin might be used to launch BF3/BF4 but the servers are using Battlelog which is separate from Origin.

Sometimes you need to update the Battlelog plugin in your browser to have it working.

Ea servers are crap especially FUT servers im in DIV one and can barely get a game and when i do its just a bot raking in coins so i never actually get to play a game thats the reason ive stopped playing it cba to play the game knowing ive got to openly loose a few games just so i can carry on playing just ruins it for me tbh

An origin update broke my Dragon Age install recently. Looked at the support forums and it was a really common issue, the fix (discovered by a player rather than EA support) was a mix of registry edits and a reinstall. Still not fixed by EA.

I've not really had any problems with EA or Origin. I've had a few game crashes, but that's been down to the game developers (DICE).

I ve not really had any issues with uplay or Origin. But EA has no games that interest me these days.

BF3 was just meh and it needed a browser plug in

1. FIFA World is a Beta, so problems must be expected.
2. Battlelog was down yesterday due to Punkbuster issues which lead to people being banned for no reason.

They are just temp issues.
