Finished a charity ride for John O'Groats to Lands End on Saturday evening in seven days unsupported with a friend. What a brutal seven days, first four were good and wind conditions were favourable and the body coped ok. Then the last three fatigue/aches on aches kicked in plus devon and cornwall were very hilly/tough to navigate avoiding the fast a30.

It was tough starting the days off with tired aching legs with a century and more infront of you but after 40 miles or so the legs warmed up and seemed to keep spiining with the odd ache here and there on the legs. My left arm also was bad at one stage from the bumpy scottish roads!

Back to work now and legs are still aching/fatigued but wont be rushing to get back on my bike till the TDF in Yorkshire a week on Saturday!

Kudos to you. Great effort. To do it day after day like that demands respect.

Im thinking about selling my Canyon Ultimate AL Di2.0, im not sure how much its worth, how much would you guys says a fair price? its got roughly about 1500 miles on it.

Surely with Di2, it's got to be more than 1200?

Might even be worth splitting and selling the groupset on its own.

Canyon Ultimate AL 9.0 DI2, Ultegra 6700, compact, Ritchey Stem and bars, Mavic Ksyrium wheels, cant remember which model atm, i would have to check. Im in two minds at the moment if i want to sell it because its a great bike.

Maybe ill just buy new crank, these ones are to short for me. Combined with the compact it feels like my legs need to go at 19,000rpm to get any power down.

Having tubular fun.

Sanded my wheels with 1200 grade to just take the shine off them.

Glued the tyres up and put them on the rims to stretch a little more.

Valve doesn't sit quite flush, seen it's been suggested to stretch the tyre more when fitting the valve. Will try it dry a few times before I out any glue on the rim.

I'd say around 1k then.

just replace your cassette and it'll fine.

With last years di2 and an aluminium frame it might not fetch that when you can easily pick up last years trek madone 4.9 new for about £1600.

Shameless self-satisfied post ahoy. Been trying to do more climbing recently, not focusing so much on average speed like I often do, and mixing in a few more proper slow slow recovery rides to try and keep fresh. Went out today on my usual 25 milers flattish 'flat out' time-trial type route to measure my progress and broke the 20mph mark for the first time! I know it's not the best metric, but it's nice to see the miles having an effect :D

full carbon, sram rival etc

I'll show pics once I'm done sorting it out and when it's close to it's final form lol.

hopefully this Sunday :o:cool:

I'd say your Triban 3 is worth £250 to the discerning buyer, given it's got decent wheels on it. Whether you can find that buyer is another matter.

Let me know how you find SRAM gears. I'm eyeing them up for my next bike, never mind that my last new one hasn't even got 1000 miles on her yet :D

I've seen a few red triban 3's fetch around 250-300 on ebay! so I'd say 250 is a reasonable price.. the problem is letting it go lol :)

Will do, I had a play with sram apex and I quite like it but we'll see how it is on day-to-day use! :o

We've got a lad in our office who is always in the gym, trying to get hench, or whatever the kids call it.

He was asking about my cycling and we got to talking about the body composition of cyclists, and how tour riders are generally dinky, but Chris Hoy has epic thighs for track sprinting. I said that Hoy needs massive muscles because he can put out thousands of watts during a sprint, and laddo confidently states that he could manage 1000W on a bike.

Never mind that his experience of cycling is limited to the odd stint on the static bike at the gym.

I am pleased to report that I contained my laughter.

Ride up the col du mente today - lovely climb!

Descent was fun too, then we absolutely hammered it over the last 15km as a thunderstorm came in, avg speed around 42km/h!

That's mad how long you can sustain the 190+ heart rate on the climb! I know it varies from person to person but I'd be absolutely cooked at that rate.
