Dell ultra sharp u2713h...anyone own it ?

Although I don't have either one I can tell you that with the U2713H you're paying extra for the wide/extended colour gamut. A feature that if you don't know what it is - you don't need.
(it let's the monitor display more colours but, your OS needs to support, the application needs to support and the applications you use need to support it)

In normal use the colours will just look oversaturated, you'd have to set the OSD to emulate the RGB color space for it to look good.

Long story short, unless you know what a wide gamut does and all your software supports it you do not/should not want it. Go for the U2713HM. Read the U2713H review on tftcentral.co.uk to get a better understanding of the differences between the 27" Dells. The u2713HM is better suited towards gaming as well btw, less input lag and more responsive.

I have the U2713HM, use it as my gaming monitor, and have no complaints. A lot of people had issues with backlight bleed. If I go looking for this on mine I can kinda see it, but otherwise it's not noticeable. From what I have read I may have got lucky, although I'd imagine the more recently produced ones are less likely to have this problem.

As Axeia said, no point going for the extra colour gamut if you don't need it, plus it's £110 you could put towards other toys :D

Thanks guys.

Reason I looked at the 'h' was that I would be using Lightroom on it. My gaming these days tends to none FPS/non twitch.

HM owner here. Excellent screen, image quality is top notch. Just beware it coming with bad calibration out the box, mine was a bit weird but I got it set up properly and it's been fine.

I use it for a mix of movies, general use, and gaming and it excels at all of them.

Cheers for that.

Nice. I too have the lower price HM and love it.

That's a lotta monies

Perfect timing, I was looking at the monitors for a few weeks now.
Got back from a jaunt in central London with my new photography fetish and saw the offer at 3am .

I better order a calibration tool.:)

Yellow bleed in the corners is a common fault but one of the reasons I went dell is the excellent warranty system. I love my u2713hm and its been solid for a couple of years now

Cheers for that. I still haven't had a chance to put it together.. (real life..pfft)

Things to do:

Look at a dead pixel check website and scan the usual RGB colours to look for any faulty pixels

Then look at an all black screen, preferably with the lights off to see for obvious bleed. If you spot none, good for you! If you do, adjust the monitor to your usual brightness settings and so on, and see how bad it is. If it's too much, get a replacement.

After that, look at an all white screen. Is the white uniform? Is it white across the screen? (as in, half the screen isn't blue and the other half yellow or something).

That's really the main things you'd want to get the panel replaced for asap. If you're good in all of those you should be fine.

Currently own two U2713HMs myself, they're great monitors.

So finally got a chance to set the new monitor up.

Taking the advice from above by the lovely and helpful fellows.

Observations:
Backlight bleed is prominant across most of the edges.(especially the top)

The yellow light bleed is very heavy bottom left corner and is very noticeable.

No dead pixels...

manufactured Dec 2013 reva00

Just checked and the above manufactured we're a bad crop.

What are my options here guys?

return it, get money back, order a new one. unfortunately, you will not know what revision you get, unless you order directly from dell.
