In Northern Ireland the DOE has for a long time now ran hard hitting TV ad campaigns for road safety on our roads.

However the most recent has caused a stir and critics claim it has gone a step to far with people claiming they cannot bear to watch it and when it appears they switch channel.

Interested to hear the views of ocukers as right now it is not screened nationwide. Hope I get the link right.

Seems a little over the top but it seems to have done the trick by going viral so maybe the message will reach it's intended target audience regardless.

I was expecting a fireball at the end... needs the full Michael Bay treatment... including a small fireball from the kids toy car :p

is it just me or is there a squishing sound at 0:45

and

best advert for buying a rwd car, he could have powered through and the kids would have hero worshipped his epic drift

DOE adverts have always been hard hitting. Previous adverts have had the same affect, the only difference is that this one has went viral.

Oddly though they are not screened nationwide as they are deemed too graphic. so only screened in Northern Ireland

Looking at some of these comments, I'm not even going to watch it :(

its not Gorey just. dare i say, cartoonish, in its feasibility.

the tag line is a class worths of kids are killed by dangers drivers, so they fabricate an accident that potentially "kills" a whole bunch at once.

I expected to hear a "meep meep" at the end.

am i emotionally stunted?

What do you find absurd about it. Interested to know what lies behind your reaction.

It's a shock ad, which equates "speeding" (absolutely unquantified) to "accidentally mowing down a load of kids having a party next to a main road", based on some incredibly dodgy statistic about a "classroom" of children having been killed in the last 14 years. What ISN'T absurd about it?

This kind of ad goes viral because it's upsetting, but it will have no effect whatsoever on speeding; they never do.

Isn't this more due to the fact that they are paid for by the Northern Ireland executive and aimed at an audience here. What's the point of showing this advert on ITV Anglia when it contains figures in it that are specific to Northern Ireland road deaths?

I can't be the only the who thinks its so badly done and unrealistic its almost funny?

Just goes to show, you don't necessarily have to drive like a total idiot for something tragic to happen. All it takes it is a momentary loss of concentration, a little too much speed at the wrong turn, and you have a lifetime of regret and consequence for any number of families lost loved ones to deal with.

People drive around like they, and anyone around them are invincible to a 1 ton speeding metal projectile far too often still.
